“No!” bellowed Velvet Remedy, her horn glowing and her voice magnified. “This is my stage!”
The room blazed with light conjured from Velvet Remedy’s horn as she made herself the center of attention. The Steel Ranger in front of me sidestepped as Velvet Remedy’s lightshow blinded her...

... One of the Steel Rangers responded to Velvet with a roar from her twin miniguns. Velvet’s shield held. I fired three more armor-piercing shots from the zebra rifle into the minigunner’s head, seeing the flash of fire through the bullet holes. I could smell the pony’s brain roasting.
Velvet whipped out her combat shotgun, firing it at the invaders, but their armor proved more than sufficient. It did not, however, protect them from her anesthetic spell. The Steel Ranger I had crippled went down.

Another Steel Ranger fired up at her with a back-mounted sniper rifle. The bullet tore through her shield and armor. I saw the look of shock and hurt in her eyes.

“Where’s Velvet?”

I pointed upwards at the stage. I could see her fallen form. In the eerie silence that followed the battle, I could make out the sound of drops of blood falling from the stage to the floor below.
Blop. Blop. Blop.

“No.” he whispered. His wings propelled him up to the stage far faster than either Xenith or I could have made it by hoof. The orange-maned pegasus landed and pulled Velvet Remedy into an embrace with a gasp.

“ow” whispered Velvet.

I have no idea how long this has been on my to-do list for, too long. It needed to be done for my own sakes. I've wanted to vector something of this chapter for ages because I really like Velvet, and this scene caught me off guard and cut me up more than I'd like to admit! x3

The armour Velvet is wearing, I'm sure everyone will have seen before at some point. It's inspired (When I say inspired, I mean taken as head-canon) by this awesome piece from the incredible Brisineo

I'd gotten an annoying 70% (approximately) into completing this image when I realised I'd made Velvet's expression completely different to what's written in the story, I had been winging it off my own memory for quite some time before I finally decided to risk tears to re-read the chapter to get a better feel for how I should go about the scene (Or more, see how accurate my memory is).

Overall, I can say I'm at least content with the finished image. Talking to a friend I said "I'm not going to upload this until its perfect" (So much for that, me!) but its the end of my holiday and I have 11 hours of driving to do tomorrow, I wanted this in a completed state and uploaded before having to undertake that before having going straight back to work the day after in a hellhole export kitchen!
