Description
After seeing Amazing Spider-Man 2, I got in the mood to make a redesign of Spidey. Essentially the concept is "What if Spider-Man were a Japanese henshin hero?" The one on the left is the Heisei version, loosely inspired by modern Kamen Rider designs. The one on the right is the Showa version, based on 70s-era tokusatsu programs, specifically the works of Shotaro Ishinomori.Some people may know that there is already a 70s toku version of Spider-Man, but I'm ignoring that for the sake of making a slightly more fun design.

This looks like a cool redesign for Supaidaman. I think the one on the right should've been the design of Supaidaman. The left one could be used if they ever reboot the series. But that's my opinion. You did excellent.

Well, most Spidey fans today seem to want to forget about Leopardon of the Planet Spider entirely. Yep. Spider-Man had a zord. And it was a leopard. Only in Japan.

I'm well aware of Supaidaman, as I've mentioned, and I love him. Sadly his costume was barely different from old 616 Pete, so the purpose of this was to spice it up.

The design makes me think more Spiderman fused with Blue Beetle(Jaime Reyes) but it still works with the toku idea behind it. The similarities but also the differences between the heisei and showa design also brings to mind Stronger and Kabuto, probably not intentional but all the same impressive that you caught the feel.

Actually you're totally right. Stronger and Kabuto were the biggest influences on the respective designs. Some of the newer Ultramen were also inspirations for Heisei, while Kikaider and Inazuman were some other influences for Showa.

Well yeah I'm a big toku fan so I noticed in spite of not seeing Stronger yet. I still have to watch Ultraman Kikaider, Inazuman and Metal Heroes, but only after I'm done with Rider, Sentai and Garo because it's too much all at once.
