I saw "The hobbit" last week and I absolutely loved it, so I decided to start making some fan art from the lord of the rings.Here one of my favourite moments from " The fellowship of the ring".
Galadriel asks Gimli what would want a dwarf from an elf. He shyly answers that he would be honored to have one single hair from her beautiful golden mane. She smiles touched by the kindness of the dwarf and gives him three hairs.

Feanor was a A$$ plus his heart was dark, as Galadriel perceived him to be. Gimli, was another individual. He was very cool in Galadriel's eye. Instead of one strand of Galadriel's hair, he got three of her hairs. Plus, he got to go to Valinor with Legalos when his tyme was done.

It's rather remarkable. Little did Gimli understand the significance of this. He asks only for a single golden hair from her head. To show that he was sorry for his prejudice toward her and she gives him three. And yet over 6,000 years ago, Feanor, the greatest of the Elven smiths asks her three times to give her a single hair from her head and she denies him.Β

I just love the significance of Galadriel's gift to Gimli, and even if he doenst know its significance he will treasure this gift forever. Love this pic.

Well if my memory doenst fail me, in the Silmarillion, Feanor the most powerful of the elves, also Galadriel's uncle was inspired by his niece's hair to make powerfull artifacts such as the Silmarils, he was so driven by Galadriel's bautifulΒ shining silver-gold hairΒ that he requested to her a single hair that he could keep, yet she refused. And so he tried another to time but Galadriels still refused, and then the third time she still refused to him. The reason? Well as far as I can interpretate she wasnt fond of him couse.... at least to me he was a duche, well anyway the thing is that she gave to Gimli what she refused to give to the gratest elve who ever lived. She saw in Gimli something special, I guess pure and valuable. Not only a token.
