I really like the colours you chose and the coarse texture on the background. The ragged edges make it look like there's a blizzard somewhere behind here.
And i know what you mean about Frozen being a huge disappointment... Your design of the Snow Queen is so much better than the generic-sweet-face treatment Disney gave to the characters.

Thanks. I kind of constantly sway between traditional and digital. I think I should finally choose one style

Ah well, Disney.....after what he did with Ka, my favorite character in the original Jungle Books, nothing surprises me.

I haven't seen the Jungle Book... Sometimes the adaptations of famous stories don't come out right. But apart from a few hiccups, overall Disney does a great job. The animations are often beautiful and varying in styles and the CGI is getting smoother with every new movie.Β

One cannot fault the technology or the artistic imagery, true. Perhaps I was being unfairly critical.

Awesome! The colours are really interesting and well chosen and I love her apparent fragility- like ice. I know what you mean, I was a bit disappointed about the movie not being at least a bit more true to the Snow Queen fairytale.

Yes. Did you know that actually the idea of making an animated film based on H.C. Andersen's Snow Queen was Walt's Disney's in the 1940s? Since then somehow it didn't work out, but many concept sketches can be found. I like the desing in them much better, and it saddens me, that Disney planned at first for the movie to be true to the original tale, but drifted off. I guess, that now that the movies are CGI, a fairytale in an orthodox style woulnd't quite fit to the technique.Β

Yeah, I think there is something to it, the digital animation now used by Disney seems somehow slightly less appropriate for the Snow Queen...Pity!
I guess it would be best if they drifted off a bit...but not that much!
