Description This is my entry for 's contest.

Kai came back to Mineral Town during winter to propose to Popuri. Kind of romantic, dont'cha think?

The background was very difficult to color, but it was all worth it, I think. The stars were going to be snow-flakes, but I changed my mind when I figured out a way to make them glow.


And wow, all the entries for the contest are so pretty. *.* I can't wait to see the winners.

Luckily I have an easier time with backgrounds now, but they're still difficult. Oh well, practice makes perfect, I guess.

I used to hate drawing backgrounds, so I thought I just wouldn't draw them xD But my pictures really missed something, so lately I do draw them, although I think it's a hard thing to do. And you're right, practice makes perfect

Is that ever romantic! Those floating stars probably took so long to do, making them glow like that! Popuri's hair looks so soft and pretty, I wish my hair were pink.

Actually, the stars were the easiest part of the picture. It was the black background that was time consuming. I had to go over the whole background with a very thin blue pencil, then a blue pastel pencil, and then a charcoal pencil.

And the charcoal pencil smeared into Popuri's hair a lot . . . I was so frustrated with it. But this is my favorite picture so far, so I'm glad that I worked so hard on it.

Yeah, I was trying to make it look very soft! I colored her hair with a different pink pastel pencil for this drawing, and I really like how it turned out.

The background sounds like it was such a hassle! All that layering must have been hard! Even though you said that the charcoal pencil smeared into Popuri's hair a lot, I don't see any dark colors in her hair, so you did a good job of hiding it! I didn't even notice that you used a different shade of pink! I should be more observant, pink is my favorite color after all!

Luckily I didn't have a difficult time cleaning up Popuri's hair! The Charcoal came off very easily when I used my kneadable eraser! I love those erasers so much.

Don't worry, you'll start to notice the difference in no time! It just takes a little observation, that's all!

Kneadable erasers are my favorite! I brought one to class once because I'm in the visual arts program at my school, and everyone in my class kept fighting over it and they wanted a turn to play with it! What's funny is that these are all fourteen year olds! They looked like a bunch of little kids!

Haha, that reminds me of my brother when he was younger! He used to steal my eraser and play with it . . . and most of the time he lost it. And then we found all of them under the couch.

I did something like that when I was younger, except it wasn't with erasers! My dad kept giving me Oreo cookies, and I kept taking off the top part and I hid them all under the couch. When my dad found them he wasn't very happy.
