Description A long way to the top.

My camera couldn't focus the beetle for some reason, so I had to use the manual focusing, it worked better than I hoped for

What a delightful picture! and seeing someone who takes pictures like you using the same camera as me fills me with hope at the technical capabilities and what I can acheive using it

Thank you

While that pic was actually shot with my good old Canon Powershot A650 -though I would've loved to have had my Nikon ready that time, well it turned out good enough anyway I guess

heh, no problem and thank you

Plus you can do amazing things with a nikon too, or even better, with the right tools, if you're into macro then you should think about getting a close up lens(much cheaper option than a real macro lens) for your camera, they are quite capable if used right. But you still have to have some patience, I've waited pretty long to get a shot like that one: [link]

I may do, I have been toying with the idea of buying a macro lens, but it's too much money and im rubbish at saving, any cheaper options would be a plus. Its just i'm completely lost when it comes to what lens i would get, or anything else for that matter! Im like a child in a sweet shop - i want everything but i dont know what tastes nicest D:

I'm getting the Nikkor 55-200VR now(well I have it right here right now ^^) and I'm thinking of getting the Nikon #3 Closeup Lens(+3 diopter, achromatic, highgrade) or the Canon 250D Lens(+4 diopter, same stats) for the lens too. I'm currently testing it with the 500D closeup lens and it's a pretty good combination, but it wouldn't hurt to have that extra bit of close focus

Why the 55-200? Because it has...

1) ...relatively quick absolute silent autofocus motor(oh my god I hate the noise of my sigma)
2) ...VR, it's really nice to have a stabilized viewfinder plus crisp and sharp images even at 1/20 seconds at 200mm
3) ...52mm filter thread, meaning you can use cheaper 52mm filters that don't cost a house
4) ... It's sharp, sharp, sharp and really light, perfect for a D60
5) ... it's a nikon

Ooh sounds like a good combo. Upload some pics and tell me when its done maybe, so I can see? Being my age, I cant always buy stuff on a whim, so if it looks good, I may buy something similar , and thanks for the watch and fave by the way!

You're welcome and thank you for the too.

"being my age, I cant always buy stuff on a whim" sounds so silly when I look at your avatar

Well, I'm lucky to be able to return my 70-300 Sigma back to the store where I sell that stuff to customers. Being quite careful about my gear helps a lot, it looks like new and I have all the packaging too, I'll just sell it to the next best lucky customer and be done with it

I'm going to order the 250D on saturday(I don't have to work Thurs- and Fryday ) and hope to get some nice enough pics worthy of deviantart within the next week...

Ooh, brilliant! The 55-200 sounds like a good lens, I might look into it myself, as I've been looking for a little longer lens for a while now.

Oh lord my avatar... I need to change it, I've been meaning to for ages now! hah!

thanks, I'm also happy with how it turned out to be. However I did take about 30 photos of that little bug, so one had to be good, I guess
