Description Mule Deer bucks. Note that the big buck has a small point on the bottom of one antler that points downward. This is called a "drop tine." It seems to be nuisance to his ear, which was always lower than the other one in every photo I got of him.

Holy macrame! O.O This looks a lot like a buck that used to be around my area, but he was killed by a idiot I knew (unfortunately....(My mother won't even let me drive yet so don't go thinkin' it was me)) Luckily a lot of his offspring are trotting around in their herds so I'm pretty happy about that.
Anyway, this buck looks almost like the twin brother of the one I knew only the antlers aren't as wide-spread.

Man what a buck, heavy in horn and body. Lots of mass. Heavy body too. Were they Rutting?

Thank you for your kind words. He really is a beautiful buck. King of the Forest was a nice buck, too, but so much of him was in the shadows. It was nice to get a photo of one with good lighting. Grateful to our awesome God for His awesome creation and the opportunities He blesses me with photograph it. Yes, both bucks were rutting. Shooting with a camera has it's advantages - no tag limit and definitely a lot less work!

Happy New Year!

God creates beauty there is no doubt about that. Great shot and I agree with you about shooting with a camera. If I don't draw a tag I still try to get out there during the bow season to get shots of all the animals in the rut. I'm a Wildlife Bio Major grew up hunting and being out in the woods. Can tell they were rutting or getting there by the size of their necks. Beautiful buck and look forward to future captures. Have you gone shed hunting?

Oh yes, love to find sheds! One day, however, I had a chance to get a really nice buck, but I was carrying so many sheds I'd found that by the time I put them down and got ready, he was gone. A Wildlife Bio Major - that's very cool! I grew up on a ranch in the Colorado Rockies and love being out in the woods, too!
