Description
And here's the stars of my 4th of July special!!!
I originally was going to make Kristoff a Continental Army man with the blue coat and white pants, but I changed my mind and decided to make him a minuteman like Theodore, just to make the group a bit more rag-tag and "underdog"-like when confronting the redcoats in my story (don't worry, the men in the background will most likely be wearing the Continental Army uniform). Which is odd since I was mainly inspired by the Overwatch Archives 2021 skins to make this story, but it's okay. I actually found out from my "Welcome to Felicity's World" book that minutemen were called that because they were ready to defend their homes "in a minute's notice", and would be armed with guns, hatchets and such.
I'll actually note that the rifle Theodore is holding has a ridiculously slow reload time; it's called a Brown Bess, and you could only fire one bullet at a time, since then you had to reload the gunpowder and jam another bullet in (and probably while one was reloading, the enemy was ready to fire another volley of bullets ). He's also got a fife to play; I also had the idea of having Kristoff play a drum, but thought it would distract from his costume on my drawing, so I left it out. I wrote about it in my story anyway.
And yes, Blair really be out here looking like Felicity Merriman XD. When designing her look for my story, I thought of putting her in the floral lace-up jacket/jacquard skirt style popular in this time period instead of the standard colonial dress/robe à l'anglaise (for all the AG fans out there, a similar outfit is featured on the cover of Felicity Learns a Lesson), because Blair tends to be more of a trendsetter/fashionista (as evidenced by her gyaru aesthetic), and she usually won't settle for the standard.
Not much more to say, other than I'm currently working on their supporting cast (Blair's neighbors Madison and Keondre, along with Mayor Dustin Callahan and his wife Anita). After I get those done, God willing, I'll be able to do Soleil's design (aka my first real attempt at a horse with a battle saddle and all). Speaking of which, after extensive research, I've decided to cast Soleil as a 16th Light Dragoon (originally, she was going to be a 1st/Royal Dragoon, but I found out that the two main cavalry regiments supporting the British Grenadiers/Infantry in the American Revolution were the 16th Light Dragoons/Queen's Lancers, and the 17th Light Dragoons, and then there was the British/Green Legion which was a mix of both infantry and cavalry, but I want Soleil to have her redcoat uniform, not a green coat).
So, until then, feedback is much appreciated, and as always, stay tuned, 'cause you're watching Stephanie's Channel!
