Are you really working these portraits at the size of a regular playing card? Because that would be pretty hard, yet cool.
The background here on this card says "chaos" to me, loud and clear. Yet, the image of your father says "tranquility and reflection". Quite the contrast.

wow! it truly is so impressive that you are working that small. I am especially amazed by the patches of color that you used to create the cheek area. You must be using a very very small brush

Thank you! In some ways it is actually easier to have detail when I work small. On large paintings I get engrossed in making drips and splatters and forget about the actual image I am rendering, but on small paintings I find I have to be much more controlled (and yes, I have a couple of incredibly small brushes
