I think that the background fits really nice with Zoro, especially when comparing the intensity of light portrayed on Zoro with the sky. But yeah, different people have different opinions about different things at different times. ~~
I see really mature/advanced shading, especially on his chest, and much more, his fingers. The fingers are incredibly realistic. The facial expression is rich, and you definitely managed to express his masculinity/badassness.
I like that you always try out different styles~

That (=> the first portrait of Zoro) was a good start, which you could also use for referencing if you want to draw a younger Zoro. But the most important thing is... look at your progress! You rectify mistakes with speed of lightening. That should make for a good extra motivation when you need it.
