Description Keyla the otter from the book "Martin the Warrior".
He was a slave at Fort Marshank, and one of the ringleaders of the slave resistance. He helped Martin, Felldoh and Brome to escape from Marshank.
He's holding a stone and a sling.
I like this characters and I like otters too.
Pencils: 2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B.

Keyla was by far my favorite character from Marin the Warrior. This an incredible image, you're welcome!

Thank you for your comment.
He is one of my favorite character too.
This is why I decided to drawΒ him amongΒ my first Redwall characters
that I have already done.

I love the way you designed his body: his limbs are short, his shoulders are small, and his body is cylindrical to make him an efficient swimmer, but they're both still the right proportions to make him be able to stand like a human, and manipulate things a decent distance from his body. I have but one critique: he appears to be a North American River Otter in this piece. The otters of Redwall were meant to be European Otters, who look rather different.

Thank you for your interesting critique;
in the picture of the otter you send, this is an american otter or european?
I did some other sketch of keyla, in the next keyla portrait I will make him look
like european otter.

It made my day to see it! It's so simple and well done, and yet complex without being an overload-lots of neat little details!

I also love the rest of your Redwall art that you linked the viewers to.

Yhank you very much for commenting, I appreiciate that! I saw an illustation of an otter from Redwall, but I added some details from my own imagination. This is the resolt of the combination between imagination and inspiration...
