Description
It was a human. A perfectly formed human, but reduced to a scale that she couldn’t fathom. He was running among the grass in a mad panic as a large carpenter ant was in wild pursuit. She hadn’t been in the human world for very long, but this was definitely unusual. Even though she wasn’t supposed to interfere with the natural world, her curiosity got the better of her. Besides, she could find a way to make it up to the ant. This human was hardly a morsel.
She dove into the grass and landed between the human and its pursuer. The insect clamped its mandibles irritably, but she soothed it with a few soft hums. The human fell over backwards in astonishment. The insect had been like a monster, but he recognized the fairy as something human. Or human enough that it made no difference. He was a pudgy human, balding and his tiny face was wrinkled.
“This creature won’t harm you now,” she said. “Who are you? Are there other tiny people like you?”
The man stood up and began to gesture to himself and over to the large artificial structure beyond the patch of grass. He was speaking the human language, but she didn’t understand a word of it. From the way he was gesturing, it seemed like maybe he lived inside of the structure.
“You want to go back there?” She asked. “It doesn’t seem like a good idea, but if you insist…”

Might be a bit of a dumb question, but is the ant like, her pet or something?

I think she's just preventing it from eating the hapless tiny human.

Yeah, it would be pretty wild. He's so small that he has no chance of any kind of meaningful relationship with regular humans, which leaves only the fairy.

Smaller than an ant and a fairy. Now that's small.

The blades of grass seem a little short compared to the ant.

Yeah, I kind of screwed up the scale on this. The ant should probably be the same size as the guy there or I should have made all the foliage bigger.

Okay. Still love the concept though. Making the foliage bigger would probably be the best choice.

I gave it a go. I think it captures the scale much better now.

"Giant fairy" is a fun situation to play around with.
