The shade from the foliage looks very flat, but Totoro is adorable as always.

In my opinion the shadow doesn't look flat but thanks for the comment

Whoa o.O That's amazing. I haven't seen that in soon three years on dA. Most people just either suck up critique without thinking or throw a tantrum saying it's "their style", but never seen anybody camly state something may be mistaken before. That's awesome! A good approach to have since no matter how informed or well meaning, people can still be just plain wrong.

What I had in mind was how the shadows from the leaves don't stretch and curve around the larger Totoro's body. They look the same on the shoulders, stomach, and the underside of the ear.

I have to admit that I had no idea how to finish this drawing.
I started drawing, probably in March, and got stuck
Recently, I decided to finish it and ... I'm not happy with the effect.
In my opinion, these shadows don't look bad but you are right, maybe I should match them more.
And thank you for developing thoughts about the flatness of the shadow

As for responding to criticism, I'm a calm person and don't want to waste my time at anger
After all, I know I'm making mistakes
