Description This one belongs to

Recovering from my New Year's sleepless night with some watercolor. This is Cat, the appy stallion, frolicking in a landscape very much inspired by Franz Marc. I used a cold press watercolor paper, which takes lots of water really well, but tends to keep bleeding colors, so Cat's outlines are more than a little fuzzy. Ah well, go with the "wa" of the medium.

I've been reminded of the existence of Artist Trading Cards, or ATCs and their kin the ACEO, (Art card, editions and originals). has been producing a cool series of ACEOs and once upon a time I used to create nametags to sell at conventions. The small size - 2.5 by 3.5 inches - makes it a challenge, so I thought I would give it a try.

Ingredients:
Grumbacher watercolors and gouache
Prang watercolors
Strathmore cold press watercolor paper
Micron black pen, .01
Pencil

No digital touchups, so you get to see it in all it's fuzzy glory.

Neat! It really doesn't look that fuzzy.

Watercolor is a medium you just have to let have its way, I think. You did well with this one.

Thankies!! I guess I get hyper over the natural bleed on that paper. I need to relax more.

Got to agree with you, watercolor has it's own opinion about how it wants to go.

I need to do more...

I know all about the needing to relax. I used to do small pieces, though the terms ATC and ACEO are new to me.

Yup! Do more!

The terms are new to me, too. Wikipedia has a definition, which helped me figure out they are basically the little name-cards I used to do way back when.

I've got a horse that should be Rusty in progress. Wanted to do a "heavy" horse.

I never did name cards, but I used to try and cram little compositions into small spaces. Same thing, I suppose.

It's all good, to say the least.
