Description
As I shrink into the shadows,I remember what was then.
There is something missing
Like a piece of me...
Haunting mists are following me,
You will never be again
Like a ship, on the everflowing seas
Ever drifting away.
Life's light blown out by a wind of unbeing,
Could do nothing more,
It was all lost, when you died.
Left behind I can recall
What you knew and what you were.
All these thoughts and memories
Unable to share...

I think it's an unique capture of a dying place and I really like the originality of the composition as well as the atmosphere.
I love how the ring binders standing there as if somebody had used them yesterday.
also the color tones are thoughtful choosen, the slight
monocrome look even sems support all the awesome
details no doubt.
the only thing that could be better (just for my taste) is
the sharpness of contrasts
so, in this case I would higher the lights without raising the darkness too (see the links below)
e.g. to lower the filthy "hdr-grey" in the window lights and to get more depth.

I do like this shot but at the same time I feel it could be much improved as well.
The main thing I really feel that it needs is both a levels and a curve adjustment to make it pop with the contrast and light, at the moment it seems rather flat in terms of luminosity, color, and contrast, adding in a slight "S" curve would boost it and give it a great impact not only to the viewer but also to the photo itself.
I see some issues going on in the blacks, where it seems some luminosity noise has creeped in, mainly the blacks in the desk. I would go in with the soften/blur tool set at 10% opacity and kill that.
Overall it is a nice shot, I would just push it a tad farther to really give it the finishing touches I feel it deserves!

I think in this case the flatness in terms of luminosity, color, and contrast emphasizes the dreary mood in this shot. But I agree with what you said about the noise.

In a sense yes, but at the same time, one doesn't have to flat line the levels to get that effect, I want to see some punch, some pop to this
