Description You remember when I was on that Rankin/Bass kick around Christmas and drew people ala Paul Coker Jr.?  Well, here is the other side of my Rankin/Bass coin:  Lester Abrams.  He was the character designer for The Hobbit, Return of the King and The Last Unicorn and the designs he put out are so lovely and magical.  They have this sorta Arthur Rackham-esque feel to them that is just glorious.  These two gentlemen deliver everything you could ask for in fantasy art: highly approachable, a little whimsical, a little funny, a little terrifying, yet somehow reassuring, always visually exciting and pleasing.

I adore my little wizard lady here, she goes around making plants grow and things like that.  Then we got a lady hobbit...which I am only sorta pleased with...

Rankin/Bass did some great stuff didn't they?  It's a shame that their films didn't get the financial support that more mainstream animation received at the time.  Regardless, I dig your lady characters here.  You've captured that same whimsy that you mentioned in your description.

Yeah, I wish they could have gone on making films. You have to admit with what they had, they did some absolutely amazing work though.

Thank you so much for saying so!  I just wish it came to me as easily the rest of the time I draw and I didn't have to really work for it.  I think that would be reaching my artistic style goal in life. XD

I know the feeling.  I've been drawing for slightly over two years and only seriously for a little over one year.  Assuming I keep this up, I can't wait until I've been practicing for a decade.  Then maybe drawing will be more effortless.

Some things come easier than others.  Like they say, practice makes perfect.  Although, and I don't say this to be discouraging, but there will always be days when cranking out art will be really tough.  It is just a fact of life.  Those are the days I end up cleaning the basement, flipping a table, or just filling a page with doodled eyeballs.
