That is the sort of compliment i love to hear! I think the rule you're referring to is thirds? I'd like to think that this sort of effortless is due to the fact that i learned the rules first, i do think its important to know what *tends* to make good photos, but the next level is to be able to make your own compositions/exposures which are *CHOSEN* by you, not dictated by the rules.

I agree, once one masters the basics, he (or she, gotta be pc) can proceed to make choices based on why the rules work and go much much further.
