Alternative colouringI feel like it's been a while since I achieve such good colouring and composition.
But do I still sound credible ?

I think we are approaching a time where photorealism is getting easy. Before it was a race to get closer and closer but if the goal is reached it will not be that interesting anymore and more creative ideas will return. I am looking forward to see an animation you have worked on. It can only be awesome.

Unfortunately you're right, all the softwares and rendering engines are photorealist-oriented. But at the same time, making different kind of movies will be a very exiting challenge for when I'll grow up to be a big girl. I'm really looking forward to this C:
You're nice, but i think you'll be disapointed, all the animations I'm working on are like my school want them to be : pixar-disney-dreamworks like. The movie will be viewable in one year I hope (if nobody on my team gets a retinal detachment, nervous breakdown or a big job opportunity before the end, like it happens a lot)

Chunky bright flat colouring always seems better to me even after spending ages rendering something with all those pesky tonal shady things! Love this pic, either version.
I guarantee you'll be reading Ulysses for quite a while, its a beast of a book.

no actually I was talking about coloring, flat colours are my favorite too, but i'm also fascinated by how light behave in real life as I spend a lot of time studying it at school (cgi animation stuff), so I can't help working on it while I paint^^

Yeah I know the feeling, often a quick sketch will have some colour added to it, then I think hmm, just a highlight here, oh and there, maybe some shadow? BAM! Suddenly 5 hours are gone and I've got a painting. Damnit!

It's funny because I work on the opposite way. I first want to work on some special atmosphere or lighting, I chose my color palette but then I'm like 'oh great now I need a LINEART'. But after the lineart my patience is gone and I do some random flat colors.

C'est justement la couleur que je cherche à travailler en ce moment, le dessin est plutot expédié vite fait T_T. Alors c'est pour ça que quand trois pauvres applats me paraissent bien mieux qu'une "vraie" colo, ça me fait bizarre^^
