Description Sunset looking towards the Tongass Narrows from a vantage point near the state floatplane dock in Ward Cove, near Ketchikan, Alaska.

Many thanks to ~engineermk2004 for the title! It conveys what I thought when I first saw it, and I am awful with titles.

Titles are such a pain, aren't they? The creation of a beautiful photo seems to be half the battle - the other half is naming the damn thing.

This is so lovely. I don't know how things are in Ketchikan right now, but apparently it's the sunniest summer my parents have seen in years back in my hometown.

Muskeg In reply to Conundra [2011-07-20 08:20:37 +0000 UTC]

Yup, titles are a pain... Usually I'll just call them something like "Summer Sunrise" for lack of something more creative, other times, I'll sit on a photo waiting for a title until I've forgotten to upload it.

Thank you for the lovely comment, Meggy. And yes, it's been an awesome summer here in K-town. Even most of the rainy days have had plenty of weather breaks in them--which is my favorite time to shoot scenic images. There is something magical about clouds whether they are full of the promise of more rain or making good their retreat after a wringing themselves over our soggy rock...

Bah! Titles! I just got another photo from David, and I'm sitting here, staring at my computer screen. I can't just call it "Naked Chick in Abandoned Ranch Shower", but I'll be damned if it isn't tempting.
I think I'm going to have to put my music library on shuffle and grab the first lyric that seems even remotely appropriate. I used to employ a "hit the shuffle five times, then name it after some aspect of that song" method, but more often than not, it has an embarrassing tendency to pick a selection from my collection of 80s hair metal.

You're always welcome, my friend.
Clouds are so beautiful and fascinating. Storms here in SoCal are rare, but when they happen, the clouds are spectacular in the aftermath. I've done some wonderful cloud-watching here.

I've been pretty good. Sadly I moved out of Alaska and residing in Seattle now. But I think it was a good move. It's certainly has a different feel here

Thank you! Yeah, I kind of felt that, too... Maybe that single dark island is what evokes that. I'm terrible with titles, or I might have given it a name that underscores that a little. Thanks again for the comment, Michael. Maybe a CD cover? Hmmm...
