Yes I have....found it's the best way to do when it comes to spherical shaped objects anyway.

Ha! I've got the 3d glasses to check this out, and this really is a true 3D representation of the death star! Dude, you really have outdone yourself on this one! I am pumped! This is totally coooooool!

I wish I had some 3D glasses to check this out.
I was going to comment that the stars should probably line up perfectly, since they are at a practically infinite distance and have no 'depth' for the viewer... but without much research, I found out that the result of that would be the Death Star popping out from a flat page. Did you adjust it so that the stars are receding away from the image plane?
I just happened upon this on the main page and was curious about it.

You know what...I almost forgot all about the stars...I painted them completely out on the displacement map so they wouldn't effect the original image at all, though I guess it was impossible to completely stop that from happening...there is still some separation on them, but I couldn't do much about that in the end.
