After making the Little Mermaid pic [link] I still felt the need to make another Disney Princess painting. So here is Belle based on what I now realize is a much used coloring page from [link]This one is a little different as I originally was going to color it based on a painting by Ingres [link] but instead just did my own thing. Regardless it was still a fun exercise.
I spent a seriously long time making this - partly because I am slow and partly because of the roses. I have new found respect for people who paint roses, they are beguiling in their complexity.

maybe... Though the old-timers have a classic look I really like, but the new 3D-cartoon series are just so flat, without expression and so incredibly smooth. But with your digi-version, it looks far more convincing.

Absolutely beautiful! It's definitely the best Belle I've seen yet. The colors are so vibrant, and if her eyes weren't so cartoonishly large, I might fear she could actually jump out of my computer screen!

I first thought the freakish large eyes would look weird in a realistic painting but then I remembered the work of Sas Christian: [link] who does some great portraits.

Oh, wow! That's really nifty!! I understand what you're saying, and I agree; I was just commenting that you had colored the image so well that, had it not been a cartoon, it would have been insanely realistic. But I like things that do that: use a more traditional method for most of the design, technique, etc., but then have one or two qualities that kind of put a twist on that tradition.
