Description Simba watched wearily as his only daughter disappeared into the horizon with her new
pride.

"I don't even know who these lions are." Simba whispered to Nala just minutes earlier. "Why should I feel safe having my daughter go off with them? Nala, she's going to
have her cubs any day now..."

"Simba, lower your voice." Nala whispered, eying the strange lion pride behind him. It was almost spooky how much they looked like Kovu. "Look, they are Kovu's pride.
They've been looking for him since he was cubnapped by Scar and Zira." She leaned in closer. "He's the rightful leader of their pride. And if Kiara wants to go with
them, we should respect her choice."

Simba closed his eyes. Kiara, Kovu and the rest of the pride were no longer visable. He got up and stretched his tired muscles. Nala stood by his side, her spectacular yellow
eyes searching his golden-brown ones. He sighed.

"I don't know what we're going to do. Our heir to the pridelands just left with another pride. What's to become of my father's kingdom?" He turned away. "There's just not
time to raise another cub."

"We don't have to Simba." Nala nudged him. "Don't pretend like he doesn't exist."

Simba moaned and shook his head. "He abdicated from the throne when Kiara was born. He never really wanted to be king anyway. He's not what this kingdom needs."

Simba got up and began walking away.

"He's all this kingdom has, Simba." Nala scolded him. The king stopped and flicked an ear back. "He'll do it. I know he will. Just...ask him." She finished calmly. "Ask your son to be king."

He sighed again and hung his head. The name was almost painful for him to speak. "Kopa..."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Simba peered through the ferns. The hot, humid jungle made his mane limp, and the moisture in the air caused it to stick to his face, obstructing his vision. But there was no denying that the young lion in the woven-leaf hammock was his son. His lazy, hippie, good-for-nothing son. For a moment, he considered going home.

"Uh-oh! Looks like the circus is in town!! AAAAOOOOO!!!!!" Came the loud, obnoxious greeting. "Father, daddy...BUD-DY!" He finished with a snort-like laugh. "What's going on, pops?"

Simba forced a grin and stepped nobly towards his son.

"Hello, Kopa." He cleared his throat, trying to remain calm. "It's good to see you. What have you been up to lately?" As he spoke, he eyed the messy conditions of the
jungle. What a slob, he thought. How anyone could make a mess out of a jungle was beyond even the king.

"Oh, you know...Chillin in the sun, wheezin' the juice and munchin' the grindage...you like mango?" He offered a fly-covered pawful of orange mush.

Simba made a face and shook his head. Kopa was never much for meat. His slender figure could attest to that. He was maybe 1/2 the size of a normal lion.

"Fair enough." Kopa plopped the mush down in a pile of leaves. "So, what brings you to my humble jungle, dad?" Before Simba could open his mouth, Kopa started. "Oh, no,
wait, wait, wait, don't tell me...Kiara and Kovu had their cubs, right? I'm an uncle!" He jumped out of his hammock excitedly.

"Kopa, no, that's not why I'm here..."

"Oh, this is great! Please tell me they had a boy."

"No, Kopa..."

"Girls are okay, but I'd rather be the uncle to a nephew, you know what I mean?"

"Kopa, you're not listening..."

"Oh, I'm gonna teach him to do this thing..."

"KOPA!" Simba finally roared.

"Yeah, pops?" Kopa asked, unphased.

Simba took a deep breath and brushed his mane back with his paw. He could already feel his blood-pressure shoot up.

"Kopa, this is not about Kiara's cubs, okay?"

"Okay...what's going on then?"
--------------------------------------

Simba sat with his back against a large twisted tree. He messaged his own temples wearily.

"Kopa, please come out of there. This is embarrassing."

"I'm not going with you, so you can just leave now." Kopa's voice called from within the tree. "I can't believe you'd ask me to take the throne back! I abdicated! I don't want
it!"

Simba rolled his eyes. "Trust me, Kopa. I wouldn't have come here if it weren't for your mother. I know you can't run the pridelands. You're just not king material. But
your mother, she thinks..."

"Wait a minute..." Kopa poked his head out of an opening in the tree. He faced his father. "Did you just say...I CAN'T run the pridelands?"

"Well, yeah." Simba answered with a shrug.

"I'll have you know, I'm a great leader." He forced out his shoulders and front legs. "I'm the master of the monkey scouts here in the jungle."

"Yeah, okay...Kopa, there's a big difference between being KING of the pridelands and being monkey-master of some poop-flinging primates."

"Don't diss the poop-flinging, man. That stuff works in emergency situations."

"I'm sure."

"And what's all this 'not king material'? What's that about? I gave up the throne because I didn't want it, not because I couldn't run the kingdom."

"Oh, yeah, you'd run it...right into the ground." Simba said with a confident nod.

"What?!" Kopa got defensive.

"Look, it was a mistake to come here." Simba finished quickly. "I'll go. Good to see you're doing okay out here." He got up and started walking away. "I'll just tell your mother that you have no interest in reclaiming your rightful place as king. She'll understand."

Kopa growled a little in his throat. "FINE!" He shouted, stomping over to his father. "I'll go! But it's not because Kiara decided to go off to Kovu's true home and run his
pride! That's not my problem! And I'm not going because you think I'm irresponsible. I'm not even going because mom would be disappointed in me if I didn't go. No, I'll tell
you why I'm going."

"And why is that?"

As though nothing had happened, Kopa's anger melted away. "Because I owe Timon and Pumbaa a fermented apple-drinking contest. And I just can't back out on a commitment like that."

Simba remained stone-faced with the unmistakable 'my-son-is-a-moron' expression.

Kopa simply smiled. "See? And you think I'm irresponsible."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you think Kopa's personality and speech sound familiar, it's because I based him off of actor Pauly Shore, who is awesome If there were to be a Lion King 4 starring
Simba's long-lost son, Kopa, he would be voiced by the incomparable Pauly Shore.

Based on a fanfic I've had in my head for a while.

Basically, After Kiara was born, young Kopa decides that ruling a kingdom isn't the life for him, so he abdicates from the throne. But when Kovu's true family come to reclaim him and the dark-maned lion accepts his family duties, his loyal mate Kiara accompanies him to continue the line of his pride...leaving Simba's line and throne vacant.

He only has one other choice...his long-abdicated first-born son, Kopa.

Unfortunately, Kopa is a carefree, vegetarian, lazy, semi-intelligent, hippie of a lion who has no interest in becoming king. To be king, he would have to first be taught how to be a true leader...and before that, he needs to be taught how to be a real lion! Kopa can't fight, can't hunt (won't hunt), and he can't even roar. To make matters worse, he's not even attracted to his own species, and reveals that he's shacked up with a leopard and he can't leave her because she's his baby's mama XD

Simba's not even sure how long he can handle his son. Does he have the patience to teach this lazy good-for-nothing, leopard-diddling, pacifist of a son the ropes on being both a lion and a leader? Or is this the end for the prideland's Lion-King dynasty?

It's just that every Kopa-based fanart I see either makes him a duplicate of his father, or with a Scarish quality about him...or, they have him dead altogether in a Zira-slaughters-the-poor-defensless-lion-cub scenerio. I wanted to try something a little different. So, I made Pauly Shore Simba's son

Art done with colored pencils and sharpies. I'm probably going to change his design slightly, but the story remains the same

Of course I do I don't need a digital program to make my art look good. My art comes from ME, it isn't drawn or colored by the computer. Ya can't beat traditional art
