Have you tried doing base lines~? Like lines to line up everything on the face? I often do this, but I'm not sure if it will work considering your style is a lot more realistic. But worth a try

It doesn't work entirely well with trying to get the jaw right, unfortunately. And sometimes you think something lines up or is symmetrical but it's not It's not.

XD I would shove a box of pototoes to Ruso's chest and be like "HERE'S A BOX OF ODINDAMN POTATOES! TAKE THEM ALL YOU WANT AND DONT TELL MY DADDY WHEN I TOOK THEM AWAY FROM HIM!"
haha XD but yeah I can't stand potatoes because my dad love getting free potatoes in everyfigging day DX I'm sick of eating potatoes and I almost tried to get rid of them by dumping them in trash but my dad will yell at me -_- I told my dad if he's gonna make potatoes again then I would let starve myself to death.

An warrior native lady is hot =w= but Einar got trapped by natives and his boat got burnt because of them. Einar couldn't able to escape and being forced to learn natives' language and culture because they wouldn't understand Einar's norse language. You know the movie "Pathfinder?" Just almost like that ;w;

The dragon is called Icelynn. She's from his backstory. I really can't say if you'll see more of her … I don't know what I'm drawing most of the time.

(Icelynn was left behind, yeah. Cos in my story, the dragons choose a companion when they drop their hatching horn, and Ruso was kicked outta Arinhold around the time she was gonna drop it. So basically, he was really looking forward to being chosen and then … yeah.
Icelynn ended up choosing his rival Bryne.

In relation to the critique charcoalfeather offered, I'd agree that older Ruso's arm seems a bit long. The hand might also be a touch large, but stylistically I don't think it's too far off mark. I've got girl hands and I can still cover a pretty good portion of my face with them, and larger than normal blunt hands are a pretty common artistic choice for strongly built characters that use their hands a lot.
As far as little Ruso goes, depending on his age I'd say he's proportioned pretty accurately really. (Though we've gone over my inexperience on this topic before, so take my opinion with a grain of salt as always...
The only comment I'd really have is that, depending on his age, his jaw seems a bit too strong. His face and its position on his head definitely look young, but the chin is pretty developed. He has a strong face as part of his character, so I wouldn't narrow it or anything, but smoothing the edges of his chin into the rest of his jawline just a bit might make him look more youthful. Again, sort of depends on the age you're going for--pre pubescent, or have his bones begun to develop?

Not freezing is a pretty good goal.
As far as the eyes go, there still slightly far apart to my eyes but at some point you have to wonder. After all, my style of drawing has pretty large eyes compared to yours.
Ahah, neither do I really. If this is after his voice broke then, well, I figure the hormones have kicked in so his face is probably already filling out. I'd been guessing a lot younger than that for whatever reason.

For some reason, I always thought that was slightly too close together when it's like that … It also depends on how big you tend to draw your noses.

WOAH! I love the Ruso on the right! His face is seriously excellent there, and he looks so serious and mature. Little Ruso on the left is so adorable and he looks like he's thinking about a trick he's going to play on someone.
Some comments:
-I know you're not done yet, but I think you might want to pay more attention to mature Ruso's proportions. It seems to me that his arms are too long compared to his legs and that his hands, especially the one at his waist, might be too thick and large. If you stretched out his hand, it seems like it's larger than his face.
-I also think his feet are too large (for the Ruso on the right).
-For little Ruso, I think his arm seems too thick? There's something about his arm that doesn't seem quite right, especially when compared to his face.
-How old is little Ruso, there? Perhaps around 12?
-I think his eyes are a little too far apart (young Ruso) and his forehead seems too small. I think perhaps he would also look more proportionate if his head was a bit larger (since he's a kid)?

I fixed up the arms and, and downsized the hand a bit (although not much, since I think they look about right). I also downsized the boot. What do you think? Disproportionate, fine, or too small?
Young Ruso's arm doesn't seem to sit naturally with the rest of the picture, I'm not sure why but I suspect it might be because it doesn't interact with the fur well enough. It's definitely not too thick though (he's got armour on, and besides, he's a brat but not a scrawny brat!
Argh you're forcing me to put a number to his age >.< (I never count. Because his culture doesn't count.) Estimation … 14? Don't take that as canon. It's a guess. Old enough to not be too squished in a battle.

I saw how you changed things a bit now! Yep, I think the proportions are a lot better now. Yeah, now that I think about it, young Ruso's arm isn't that thin; it's just the armour. I think what's "weird" about his arm is that yeah, as you pointed out, the fur doesn't look like it's being affected by the arm underneath it. For his arm to be in that position, his shoulder and the upper part of his arm would have to bend out a bit, so the fur would be affected.
Ah, okay, about his age. That makes sense. Has he gone through puberty yet, though? From what I've seen in the picture, it appears that he's still pre-pubescent (whatever his numerical age is), so I think his face can also be a bit rounder/not as square. His jaw seems a bit on the big side for a pre-pubescent kid, but perhaps, that's just me.

Ahaha, okay. Oh, I just thought he might be pre-pubescent because of his height. I think most growth spurts happen just before the voice breaks, so I thought he'd be at least shoulder height with the older Ruso if his voice had already broken. I'm probably just nitpicking though xD

I didn't pay attention in class either (I don't think we learned about that stuff, though. It was just "Don't do drugs!" over and over again and graphic pictures of STDs)--I was mostly recalling from personal experience with friends and people I saw/have seen throughout middle and high school. I was particularly reminded of someone I knew whose voice only started breaking when he was 17 or so, in grade 11. He had a huge growth spurt in the summer and when we saw him again in grade 12, he was a lot taller and his voice had broken. Similar things had happened a few years back for the other boys, too, so yeah, personal experience.
