This angle works so well! Very dynamic though the characters are not moving. Great art as always!

Ahhh, Ruso. Wonderfully well-adjusted young man, that dude. What's the "revenge" specifically for? Was Marteus involved in how he got exiled, somehow?
Holmr looks pretty neat! I really need to dig into your gallery in a bit more depth on my actual computer, sometime. Most of the time that I'm on dA I'm on mobile, the only reason today was an exception is that I'm putting off homework. How long does it take you to put together some of this stuff? I mean, you've basically programmed your own webpage in your dA gallery, that has to take a bit of dedication!
I love the folds on Ruso's pants, btw, and as ever your textures are wonderful. I also really like the contrast between Marteus and Ruso's postures! Really helps carry across their respective attitudes. Awesome work on their hands, too, both the posing/gesture of them and just... the fact that you drew them really well, haha.
Does the symbol in the background mean anything?

Marteus... is now blacklisted. He broke Draegar's fingers? Unforgivable .u. fangirl? What fangirl
Wow the way you summarised the plot just made it a thousand times more badass and symbolic : OO
I like how you can infer so much from their personalities just by the way they sit

Heh, thank you! Yeah movements are really good for characterisation. Both in drawings and writing.

Oh I remember checking this out a while ago - and the holmr intro! - but I forgot I didn't get to commenting on it!
Wait, so the whole revenge story actually goes on in Ruso's mind, and that's why it's structured like a game? Wow that's a brilliant idea!!! I mean, I knew about how central the game of holmr is to the story, but I never knew why exactly! So does it involve ships and chasing one another and killing one another's party?
I like how the lighting enhances the ominous mood of the piece, not to mention the bloody symbol on the wall! Makes me think that they've just committed some massacre in that room and then they're like "ok let's relax now, what do you wanna do?" "let's play some holmr" I like their expressions, They both look concentrated, but Ruso also seems pretty confident like he's having the upper hand and he knows it, while Marteus looks cornered.
Ah Marteus how could you do that to Drae? *angry fangirl plotting revenge on Marteus* On second thought, he might've had a good reason to do it, Draegar is nowhere near an angel himself (harp&golden locks or not) xD

I was wondering if that link distracted everyone away haha. This picture somehow amassed fewer views and comments than I get semi-consistently.
It's not that literal. Ruso only treats it as a game, and he's a highly metaphorical person, so he makes references in a broader sense to how one should strategise in a game. But I think the creepiest thing is that he peppers subliminal references everywhere. EG. If Marteus' favourite number is 24, he gives him 24 roses. It's very much a psychological game.
Thanks! Marteus always looks like that haha. He just concentrates more openly.
Ehhh well whether it was a good reason is up for debate! It wasn't called for ... but Draegar's not exactly innocent either.

Thanks! I've been drawing him the longest so I'd be worried if he's not recognisable. Now I just gotta work on making Draegar as distinct.
It's the rune of exile, which is branded on Ruso and Draegar's faces. Ruso adopted it as the Winterguard's emblem.
So it was drawn first, and then Marteus scribbled some blood over that. It basically represents blood being spilt over their friendship problems.

Eventually haha. I've made him his own folder, so you can bet on him showing up more often. xD
Around two days straight, then lots of irregular touch-ups over a long period of time. I've tried to cut down on production time by tracing around photos of myself for poses, etc, but I think I just make up for it by putting more time into the colouring lol. So overall, same amount of time as always.....

That's pretty good for a decent quality drawing ^_^ I find it hard to time myself because I'm forever procrastinating haha
Omg I traced a pose the other day and felt like such a cheat artist lol
Even though I kept telling myself I was still using a lot of my art skills I was just saving a bit of time XD

You mean you stop and start while working on pictures? I actually can't do that because if I stop, I don't restart!
I'll always recommend tracing. I don't see it as cheating unless I trace someone else's work, but if it's my own photo, then the entire thing is still my production. And it's practical! Faster, anatomy becomes noticeably better, etc. Because my goal is to present my story/characters, not show off my mad drawing skills haha. I think tracing your own photo is less of a cheat than referencing someone else's pose photo. Because your own is 100% you, your ideas, your imagination, your intention.
If the technology is there, why not use it? Otherwise we can all go back to oil paintings on canvas. Which looks beautiful but certainly takes a lot more time and skill.

Lmao yep I have an awful attention span. I think it's got worse.
I am trying to improve focussing on one thing though, I've managed to get through some books recently ^_^
Yeah that is one of the great things about digital art XD
Also imagine selling your original version of a painting... and knowing someone else has the only one ;_;
