I'm pretty sure there is no season when they're in high school. They get turned into high schoolers temporarily in the manga, but the farthest it has gotten age wise is when they're 12.

I agree. I mean her ponytails do match her character but later on in the manga she becomes more mature, maybe the author is waiting for an EXTREMELY important scene for her to let her hair down. Who knows?
