Description Something draws me to this photo. Even the most common waterfowl can sometimes look pretty striking.

This goose and her mate were pretty welcoming. They would swim or walk right up to us (no food involved). Her mate has a band around his leg, so maybe they are a bit used to human interaction.

Species: Canadian Goose
Location: Colonial Park, Somerset, New Jersey
Lens: EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM

This is quite a lovely photo. The clarity of everything is quite impressive, especially the water drops. I do have a few suggestions, I don't know how well it would have worked, but perhaps if you had caught a little bit of the front of his body and water, it would show a better sense of reality to it. I'm not saying the crop you have is bad either, the other suggestion I could give, and this is more so instead of the other one, is if the head was a little closer to the front catching his back a little more. That aside, this is an absolutely stunning photo. Like I said, the waterdrops are amazing, they really caught my attention. Thank you, Tori.

I fully agree with you that having more of the body would have been better. I did have another shot with more body, but it was not as crisp as this one. On a non-moving subject, I'd have even more shots to choose from, but that was not the case here!

Thanks again for the kind words and critique. I appreciate it!

Oooooh purdy!

The water's ripples add a lot to the photo, too. Fascinating

Lovely capture... And I agree.. Even the simplest of birds can produce a stunning photo when it comes to photography...
