Description Young American Robin trying to find an easy meal even though it was able to find food on its own.

Update: This robin was a rehabbed bird who was banded before release. He stuck around the rehab property and would beg for food. We were instructed to ignore him so that he could become more independent, however, he interrupted a banding presentation. Don't worry - he ended up finding himself some nice grub from the ground right in front of us.

This is a beautiful picture of a baby robin. I see that it is already banded, too. This is better than most of my pics of birds and I spend all weekend outside with my camera on movement detector. They are usually up in trees so it is hard to get a good picture. I love how it has it's wings spread out and it's beak open as if it were making a call. Overall, this is a great and beautiful picture. it has a perfect view of the call. This is a great picture and I wish I could photograph this good

Thank you for the critique! I admit that this was an easy photo op - the bird was raised by a wildlife rehabber, so it was used to people and begging to everyone. It's nice to take a break from the norm an photograph an easy target sometimes

I love this picture. It was well shot, and the baby robin is adorable. I take a lot of pictures of animals, and this picture is much better than my pictures of American robins. I've never seen a baby or adolescent robin in real life by the way. In my heck of the woods, they always nest in the trees. Plus, a lot of your pictures are really good. You are one of the best wildlife photographers I have ever seen on the Internet. What kind of camera do you use. I love this pic. I have no problems at all.

A lot of people are noticing that, so I updated my description about why he was banded

That's a good picture, taken at the right moment.
I see this little one has a ring, were you in the wild? Some scientist visibly crossed his path.
Did he get his easy meal in the end?

This was a previously rehabbed bird who was banded and released. It stuck around the property looking for a free meal, but we all tried to ignore it so it would go off on its own. The Robin then decided to beg in the middle of a banding presentation. It did not get food from the people, but did find some nice grubs in the ground, including a good-sized bee.

Ah, that's a good news that he is searching for his own food, he is on the way to independence!

we're lucky to have robins visit our yard every day - but have yet to catch a sight of the youngsters yet - nice capture

Thank you! I currently have one nest near my house that I can see and my neighbors had a nest in their hanging plant

what a neat present - a robin's nest in the hanging flower pot are they all fledged?

Yes. I meant to get photos of them, but never got around to it! And it looks like the other nest near my house may have failed. I haven't seen any birds near it and the babies were too small to fledge.

Wow!  Excellent shot!  By the way, where did you take this?  I ask because he is banded.  I wonder who bands Robins.....

The Robin was a rehabbed bird. They banded a bunch of birds before release throughout the week.
