Entering the vulture’s lair took all that remained of the night, the three lions where exhausted, especially one. The poor lioness Jua was overwhelmed by anxiety and fear.
She had seen the destruction of her friends without being able to do anything, not even protect the poor cub she had found. But the cub wasn’t in much danger for now, for she was the daughter of the beast.

She was at the back walking slowly, shivering, watch by the intense stare of hundreds of vulture. Escape was impossible, and would faster her death. The male lion didn’t talk at all during the walk, she heard his voice once, when he let her chose to live or to die, all he asked her was to follow. So she followed, so she was still following. All she could do was to think about something she could do, something she could say to ease the anger
of the red lion.

- Dad… where are we going? Said his little cub.

He did not answer, for he was still carrying her in his mouth, so the cub remained silent and clueless.

The vulture’s lair was a huge fort formed by the wind, impenetrable for those not familiar with the way to enter other than by flight. The red lion headed to the only pile of rocks wich wasn’t soiled by bones and moldy leftovers. He gently posed his daughter on the ground and put a paw on her head, to have a better look at her eye infection. His expression became a tad more soft. Then he turned around toward with his killer eyes Jua and pointed a retired corner. The lioness didn’t waited, obedient blind she was because the
poor one was so scared.

The red lion lay down on the ground and watched the lioness go where he pointed her with a severe impenetrable look. Two vulture landed on him and started to pick every dirt remaining they could find. Three other vulutres where now turning in circle above the lioness, wich noticed that and became even more anxious, her eyes as big and
round as they could be. Two vultures then landed right beside the little girl, they where transporting a huge piece of meat taken from the lion's bodies.
- For you my lord, said one of the two vulture.
- Acha, are you hungry?
- I’m starving! Can I have it? She pointed the huge peace of meat that was bigger than her.
- Of course you can.

The red lion waited that her daugther was too absorbed in her meal to listen to what was going on. The lioness risked a glance slightly reassured, but when she understood what the cubs was eating, she couldn’t remain silent.
- Do she knows what she’s eating! She said with a treble voice.

He didn’t anwsered. Another vulture landed right in front of him. The lioness turned her head aways from the scene, closing her eyes trying to calm down.
- Sir, wha.. why didn’t you killed her? She looks terribly unuseful and you’re starving!

He answered nothing again, only raised his right paw to silence him. The vulture looked curious, then started wasing the lion’s paw and bloody claws. Another vulture landed, with a little piece of meat, hapilly olding it high so the beast could see and take it as a gift.

The only sound Jua could ear now was the little cub eating. Jua turned her head toward the male again, since it was silent for a moment.
- So? he said, with a little smile.
- Please, let me go! she pleaded with a little voice.

The lion’s laughter broke the silence, it was deep and malevolent, wich gave her chills.
It was followed by the laugh of the vultures, and his daugther that wasn’t really listening and just following.
- My daddy is funny eh? Said Acha looking at the lioness that wasn’t smilling at all.
- what's going on Ma'am? she then continued, turning to her father. Dad, what’s going on?
- Nothing honey, dad is talking, keep on eating.” The lion turned toward Jua. “ You’re not going anywhere, and I won’t go to your pitiful land before month so you better…
- PLEASE!!! Please, I didn’t do anything to your daugther I tought she got lost or something… I have NOTHING to do with the two lions you killed, let me go! Please!
- SILENCE! GROOOOOW!!!

He suddenly stood up and approached Jua, rage in his eyes.
- Nothing, you’re worth nothing!!! He said between his teeth with a growling voice.
- STOOOOP!!! I’m good at navigating in the desert!!! I… I know secret water hole and oasis and place to hide from the sun!!!
- Keep going.
- I… I can hunt and… and…
- It’s enough… far enough for now.
