Description Title: Ayano at the Miyako Odori
Date: April 2010 - February 2011
Medium: Copic and Prismacolor Markers, Derwent Pencil Crayons and Copic 0.3 and 0.05 Outliners

I originally began sketching this piece out last April (yes, that's about 10 months ago). I worked on and off on this piece in short bursts every so often. I finally got around to finishing it today since the Final Fantasy XI servers were down for maitnence for 10 hours. This piece was a drawing from a photograph taken by the late Onihide-san ([link] ) (note: this photo was only available to view for friends for 1 day last year and is no longer on his photostream). I feel in love with it the second I saw it. In the photograph is maiko (apprentice geisha) Ayano of Gion Kobu (I swear it looks like Mamesuzu now lol).

Overall I liked how it worked out except for the face (I'm extremely nit picky when it comes to faces) so I highlighted it in photoshop to make it more clearer. The background color effect was done in photoshop to add to the atmosphere of the dance. Originally I wanted to draw it to give to Ayano-chan herself through Onihide-san but with his untimely passing I don't think that will be happening.

Total Time: Guessing because it took so many months; 30-40 hours.

The amount of details on the kimono are beautiful. I love the cherry blossom pink you used for the background! And, then of course, there are her hair decorations...!
Very lovely. I think she really would have liked it.
