Once the heiress to the largest underwater empire, Ursula was exiled after being caught experimenting in black magics. Furious, she attempted a spell that would transform her into a sea creature that would give her the power to destroy her father's kingdom. Her spell went wrong, however, and only part of her body changed, permanently.
She can cast a spell on creatures to gain control of them, resulting in a tattoo on her body. However, too many tattoos at once or any tattoo for a prolonged period of time distorts her skin, and it begins to rot from the inside. She spends her time in exile in humiliation, skulking the ocean floor, and awaits the day for true redemption.

Thank you! The hair was definitely difficult to capture, it took me at least 5 or 6 attempts to get it close to believable. It was definitely a challenging piece, I also had a hard time isolating focus points, so I decided to settle with the stylistic differences. I greatly appreciate your feedback, thanks again for your time!

First off, I'd like to say that this is one of the best Ursula pics I have ever seen in my life. The colors and shading technique fit the mood perfectly.... nice and dark. Secondly, is the story in the description like a deleted scene from The Little Mermaid? Since the father (whom I'm guessing is King Triton), bansihed her from home? I swear, if Ursula looked like that, Ariel trusting her would be the dumbest move possible. Which...it already is in the film...but I can picture this as the version in the book.

Splendidly executed indeed. I like minimal element used to compose at the bottom of visual, representing she is an octopus. Transparent view with a baby like inside, on the side of her chest looks like a sexy tattoo for me. Detailing and execution of her hair and wave of water blow me away...completely. Finally, she looks like Angelina Jolie for me. No offence. Hehe...

I love your interpretation of this character! The other worldly effect is great! Great use of shadow vs light, as to the colors. Brilliant, and not too "cute" looking! She's Hot!

Thats a really nice Ursula. You can really feel the malevolence coming off her.
The accompanying story fleshes her out a bit more, giving her a depth you don't get in the Disney original.
She reminds me of a Drow.

I really like the colors and the whole feel of the picture but for some reason when I look at the face I think plastic surgery, it looks like she has been under the knife one too many times xD but I still love the picture regardless.

I really love the composition of this (and just about everything about it) the only thing I feel could have been done differently is all of her tentacles are showing the suction cups, in reality they are only on the bottom side of the tentacle so some of them should be showing the side without. the 4 farthest to the back would probably be that way more realistically. Of course I've never like studied octopi so you could be right about the way they move
