Portrait done as the final assignment for Suzanne's portrait class!Had to chose a character I really liked from a show, book or whatever else and make a realistic portrait of them the way I envisioned them.
I chose Euphemia li Britannia because I always loved this girl. She's from code geass and her story is too touching to not burst into tears....

I repainted her face and played a little with the colors and softened parts of the image.
I didn't like how she looked previously, and after having made a portrait of another character from the same anime I felt it fell short in comparison...

Looks absolutely fantastic, you'll have your 'art of' book published in no time if you keep it up like that...I'll really have to step it up a notch if I ever want to reach your level. I really like the final few touches you added, like the increased contrast on top of the eyes and the blurriness of the edges of your painting, however i feel the skin maybe lost a little bit of texture a little tiny bit maybe? Like, before your repaint, you could vaguely distinguish tiny little brushstrokes around the nose and the crease between the eyes, which I, personally, really liked as it added a bit of texture to the skin, and now, though still amazing, it has a bit of an airbushed feel to it a little tiny bit maybe? I dunno...i feel really uncomfortable criticizing this great piece so I'm just going to stop now; Great job!

You're right about the more airbrushed look, but I chose to keep it that way on purpose.Β
If you want a realistic reasoning;Β
Euphemia is really young, like 15 or 16 years old if I'm right. Naturally she would have fair and smooth skin. The old look made her look older than she was, I didn't like that.Β
Besides that she is also a princess, so I'm sure she has great make-up artists at her disposal that know how to wash away imperfections.
I just generally felt it looked better, suited her more

Amazingly done. I always loved this character. She is strong, wise and kind but with such a sad story. You just portraited her with all thos traits. She looks... like Euphemia indeed, not in the way she was drawn. I hope you get it. Lol

You mean her initial character shines through?
That was my intention with this portrait, as it is practically impossible to pull a real human from such a stylized anime as Code Geass and work any real characteristics in, looks wise, besides her hair color, hair style and the color of her eyes.. The only characteristic besides those may be the position of the eyes as those seem to vary per character, but they're so huge it's not even that much of a guideline to their actual real life faces... xDΒ
I figured the best way to go would be to put her personality in it
She looked cuter, more playful and far more girly in the initial sketch though.. It got a little lost during the rendering..
So I feel her optimistic and bright side got a little lost.Β

Yes, yes! Exactly! In a more realistic way, this looks would fit her like a glove. I would picture her like this pretty easily.

Well... I don't think her optimistic and bright side got really lost (well, I dont know how the sketch looked like, I'm just using what I have! xP)
She has a mix of emotions and characteristic on her. Like a bit of optimism aaaand also sadness. And it fits her and her story.
