Presenting my fourteenth submission for the Ladies of Gundam project, a project that will feature a series of portraits of female characters from the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise...
I've now started on painting the most requested Ladies of Gundam. I'll start with the 5th and one of my personal favorites. Presenting a portrait of Haman Karn, the Ghost of Zeon. Antagonist from Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and its sequel Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ. I painted her on a semi-worm's eye view. I had trouble figuring out how to paint her iconic purple broom hair but I'm glad it turned out quite well. I hope you like this rendition...

Hmph, about time. The hair should be a touch more towards maroon, but it's still excellent. I especially like how you got the Sassy perm (whoa, dated reference Uncle Zeo ) to look like actual hair that looks nice even if it's been crammed into a flight helmet. Not that she ever wears one, but it's the thought that counts, ne?

About time, yes... Haman was the 5th most requested Lady of Gundam in my tally. Reconstructing Haman's hair into realism takes top priority for me. Her hair is really one of the iconic things about her character. She's the only character in the Gundam franchise who sported the most hairstyles but you cannot talk about Haman Karn without talking about her broom perm hairstyle. I need to make it look beautiful, empowering and physically possible.
Personally, the hair color is fine... I based it from the manga, Char's Deleted Affair. As for the hairstyle itself, it's really easy since it's just a straight perm. I had more trouble painting Fa Yuiry's and Kiki Rosita's hair. As for wearing a helmet, she used to wear one when she was younger and piloting a white Rick DOM. Her hair wasn't really an issue. But why stop there? Why not add a pink rose? Yes, the pink rose is more recognizable as Mashymre Cello's item of endearment but lets not forget who gave it.

My mental image of Haman-sama is always her Zeta-ZZ self, but is CCA her hair appears two shades lighter, especially in bright light. It's didigital painting, so Japan must break out all the pastel shades! Kudos for adding the rose of legend.

If I have the time, I'll go back and try to re-edit another version of this.... Only with Haman wearing her Neo Zeon attire... The last costume Haman wore before her ill-fated demise.
