Presenting my tenth submission for the Ladies of Gundam project, a project that will feature a series of portraits of female characters from the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise...
GLORY TO ZAFT! Here's the final product of the poll winner, a realism rendition of Lunamaria Hawke from Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny... As promised to a friend, I painted Lunamaria saluting. Zaft Swag. This one is dedicated to all the Lunamaniacs. I hope you like this rendition.

It's seemingly perfect regardless. The smiling female soldier is nothing new. Even the women in the United States Military have some pictures of them smiling while saluting. I thought I'd do the same for Luna so that it would show her cheerful nature, as well has being a soldier of ZAFT.

The lady soldiers always give it their best runway smiles, especially for those sexy IDF calendars. The guys usually try to look cool and tough.

The thing about Lunamaria forgiving Shinn for shooting down her sister and Athrun seemed unique for me. Not strange either. Gundam Seed is mostly known for having philosophical speeches about "killing one will only enrage another person to kill another" logic... However, Luna took a more different route seeing as she's a also a very caring character and that she's also bound to her duties as a soldier. She didn't let her personal feelings get the best of her. For me, Shin and Luna's relationship is also well-developed seeing as how they already know each other prior to everything else in GSD. Certainly more developed than other couples of Gundam like Shiro x Aina, Amuro x Beltorchika, Four x Kamille, Katz x Sarah and the cherry on top, HEERO x RELENA. So Luna and Shinn's relationship is rather excusable.
As for the love triangle thing. It has to end sometime. Every series of Gundam tend to end love triangles one way or the other. May it be the death of the other party, the other party finds another love interest, or the other party just calls it quits. Moreover, Luna only has a crush on Athrun which is something not to be escalated too quickly. Also given the fact that Athrun is currently in-love with somebody else at the time so they really have to drop the whole Luna versus Meyrin versus Meer over Athrun thing....
