Such a scene reminds my of an AU that I thought up where while Scar does go through with killing Mufasa,
he also spared Simba, and raised him to be his heir while he still became King.
He literally could've gotten away with murder in that scenario.

(sighs) I actually loved that little scene where Simba would try to get his uncle to play/talk with him. Especially so for me I because often preferred my uncles over my father because my uncles would make time and play with me when I visited.Β

Personally, I believe that deep down, Scar cared for Simba; even if it was for just a tiny bit. I mean, he didn't kill Simba when he clearly had the chance to. And he gave his nephew a head start before the hyenas went after him; like he was giving him a chance to escape.
But hey, that's just the way I see it

Anyone think that Scar should have brought Simba back with him instead of telling him to "Run away and never return"? Also when he brought Simba back he would have told him the truth about MufasaΒ and how Scar was treated growing up. Going as far as to tell Simba how he became as evil as he was as well as how he became a pooping in diaperser. That last half of that last sentence is at least how I see Scar. AlsoΒ if I were writing the story I would have Scar teach Simba how to be a pooping in pantser then grow up to a pooping in diaperser just like Scar. These are just my thoughts and how I see things. Well done, the pose and faces add a really warm atmosphere and i like how you draw Scar's face. He is a complex character and i personally think he's one of the most well-made evil character in Disney, cunning, cold, manipulative.

I sometimes wonder... Even though Scar had such a rough life before his brother had been deemed the next King by his father (I am going by stories and such that I have heard, so correct me if I'm wrong), you would think he wouldn't have been surprised (was he surprised?) to find that the king, Mufasa, would plan to have a cub for the next heir. But even so, you'd think that Mufas would have given Scar a kind of duty, a job to make him feel more important to the pride and kingdom. Maybe a second advisor? I can understand people saying "but he was scarred for life as a cub and has too weak of a mind and this and that-", but honestly, I can see Scar regaining mental strength if he had been actually needed in the pride rather than being just the uncle of the next King, left to be ridiculed even by Simba (unintentionally). Maybe if Scar had been given a proper place in the pride, then maybe he wouldn't have had those evil plans to kill his brother and nephew.
But aside from my constant rambling- this is such a lovely piece of art! I love the happy-go-lucky smile on Simba's face and the calm open one on Scar's face. Such a lovely scene that I wished could be seen in more art. Scar looks completely content here. Great work on it!

It probably wasn't mentioned in the movies because the creators hadn't even thought of the idea of the Lion Guard back then. Seriously, that's pretty much the real answer.Β

Part of me would like to think that Scar would have loved Simba as a nephew if he hadn't taken his place in line for the throne, but then again--Scar' character and emotions were really made against that. Regardless of who was in his way and who wasn't, he only knew what he wanted, IMO, and could care less about the lionesses/cubs/lions in his pride after he overthrew Mufasa.
That's just my viewpoint on it.
That aside, this pic is so cute! You drew Scar really, really well!
