Description This was created as a Christmas present for my sister this year. I normally make her something small, but she never fails to get me something really cool. She has also supported me through thick and thin as far as my artworks goes, and even gave me a $270 Iwata airbrush which is a pretty awesome airbrush. She has also helped out a great deal when I haven't had money to buy supplies or pay eBay fees, so I really feel like I owe her big time. The sculpt is about 8 1/2 inches tall but seems much bigger. It was sculpted from a combination of Aves Apoxie Sculpt and polymer clay.

You know if it were feasible, I'd do nothing but the critters. Well probably not, because I'd probably get tired of doing them after a while, but they are really fun to do. Just no real market for them. Not really like the dolls anyway.

I had the same problem with the legs on my Grian Dragon. Too much weight on two legs. I decided if I ever make one again it will be made from epoxy clay. This turned out so cool Julie Bet your sister just loved it. I wish I was your sister lol......you make the coolest stuff

Well she was floored. She knew I was making something, but had no idea how involved it was. Thankfully, she appreciates how much time and effort goes into each piece, and was able to imagine what I put into the dragon because of it. She was expecting something much smaller, so she was kind of amazed at just how big she was. The fun thing was that I could do something with this one I could never do otherwise. There is no way this dragon would have been able to be shipped any distance and still make it to the destination without some major damage. The only thing holding up her entire weight is just two fairly small and thin legs in comparison to the rest of her bulk. I might be able to do another one with four legs planted firmly on the ground, but not in a two legged pose like this one. I can definitely see more dragons in my near future though, I had a lot of fun with this gal!

His musculature, teeth and horns are beautifully done. As is the pose, ½ turned – it showcases his three dimensionality particularly well.

Thanks! I probably have somewhere around 80-100 hours into it of actual working time. It was spread out over about 3 weeks more or less, so it's a bit hard to pin down the actual amount of work time nivolved. I know it took forever though, especially since it had to be done in so many stages. I had to completely finish the body including paint before I even attempted the wings.

Yikes, it looks worth it all though, its amazing. How long did it take to do the wings? It looks really complicated :S I mean I draw alot of dragons and they can be pretty hard to draw, but making, I'd probably get fed up and crush them after so long

The wings are definitely one of the harder parts. However, they didn't take anywhere near as long as the main part of the body, maybe about 10 hours for both of the wings together. They were easier than they looked. I used apoxie sculpt over a wire mesh and was able to achieve a fairly thin, but very strong wing.
