So are ponies. Octavia would only be three or four feet tall in that posture.
In any case, William Anderson (who writes the music that Octavia plays) says her instrument is a cello. That settles the matter as far as I'm concerned.

Okay, so, I know I've commented on this one already but this thing just won't get out of my head. I LOVE THIS PIC!
Octavia is one of those ponies that sits quietly in the background of the show, really never doing anything to get attention, but you can imagine so much potential for her, and here we have a picture that just blows her status as background pony out of the water to be solidly replaced with full-on foreground pony status! The eyes, her mouth, the set of her shoulders, the way she is holding up the cello... the flow of her mane and tail... even the way you drew her hips connecting to her flanks is awesome!
Oh, and for all you cello lovers out there... I made the mistake of viewing this picture while listening to 2CELLOS [link] performing Welcome to the Jungle. If I was a pegasus... instant wing boner...

I vote for leaving it up, even if it's ambiguous (the bow, for example, I'm assuming she is biting it). The strangest thing for me is the right "arm": I know how it's supposed to be placed but there is "something" off that might or might not be attributed to the pony anatomy.
TL;DR: It's good, but the constraints of pony anatomy are hard to overcome. I'm thinking thought of Cloud (FFVII) and his B-F-Sword could be useful for reference in handling big things, but there are no similar poses...
