He didn't have a name for a while, but he seemed to believe he belonged to us from the moment he set eyes on us. Mamacat, his mother, called to him repeatedly on the front porch that rainy day, but he wouldn't come out of the little shelter we have there. With the top of the shelter off, we could see him go to the doorway then out on the wet porch, only to hurry back to the far corner of the house. Mamacat kept calling to him as she walked away and still was calling when she had reached the end of the driveway. But, the future Pumpkin Pye refused and let us pick him up and take him inside. He was so excited, looking around from his perch in Mom's arms! We still had formula from Honey Bear (RIP), so we were prepared to care for him. His adjustment was remarkable! He never fussed or went to the door. He was out of the basket surprisingly fast and grew so much that he soon was able to jump out of the bathtub, where he would be put to bed. Very early, he was using the grown cats' litter boxes and kept going out in the garage, only to be brought back in the house because it was quite cold.He grew up so fast! He'll be 1 year old in mid-September, but he's as large as Scotty, Twinkie and Peachy; larger than Sabrina; and getting very close to Pookie's size! He even had to be neutered early.
We've never regretted letting this beautiful boy adopt us.

Pumpkin is so big now! The only problem he has are losing hair near the base of his tail. We aren't sure what the problem is. He's so healthy and energetic otherwise.
So, Pumpkin's faith was well-placed. We've been two mommies for him, and he's never wanted to go outdoors.

His eyes ARE amazing, whether they're baby blue or brilliant copper! He looks straight at us unerringly, and he'll search a face so intently, we know when he wants to be picked up for a while. When he was a baby, he was like a tiny monkey, leaping from the floor up into our arms. We've never had a cat who did that.

Yes, he is! It was no time at all before this tiny bit of fluff rocketed to the size of our next-to-largest cat! In time, as he's only about 1 year old, he might get bigger than even Pookie Wookie Bear!
