I don't know guys, I was just about to go to bed, but felt I have to submit at least something, anything today
I just have this heavy, bitter feeling inside me that I get every year when the Warsaw Uprising anniversary comes. I keep on remembering my grandma telling me: "We saw a red glow on the sky and didn't know what it was. Only later we realized it was the burning Warsaw." She lived near Łódź back then, it's about 150 kilometers from Warsaw, so the fire must have been huge.
I treat uprisers as real heroes, but the uprising itself was our failure. Seriously, we have too many dates in our history that we can only celebrate with bitter-sweet "Gloria victis!"
I just wanted to show lonely Feliks. I mean, everything seems possible when you're with others. You don't let the hope inside each other die. But when you're alone you finally see just how stupid it was from the start. And how much that cost.
This is just an old doodle and should most probably go to scraps.

I think the most important thing was that they tried. It would be by far more disappointing if they'd done nothing. Of course I can imagine that this way of thinking isn't very comforting to those directly involved.
We have similar events in our history. Most notably the April Uprising of 1876. When I hear the phrase “April Uprising” I think fire, blood and gore. All the uprising did was anger the Ottomans and outrage the west...who remained very much outraged... and did absolutely NOTHING about it.
On a more cheerful note - the pose is very beautiful and I like Feliks' expression.

Yeah, I never blame uprisers themselves. They did all they could, gave all they had. The problem is, those people were usually very young, they did not know any other way to react. It's just that someone should have told them there is other way, that they will be needed later. That they have a even more important task. It pisses me off just how unnecessary their deaths were. Even if I understand why they did it and know they got betrayed again and so failed, I think someone should have stopped them.
Optimistic thing is, we finally learned from that lesson. My history teacher says Solidarność was doing everything they can to prevent a military uprising and another massacre ,until they finally got the compromise with government.
But today we only learn about how awesome and brave the Warsaw Uprising was and I'm afraid the legend of it might cause a similar situation in the future.
Yeah, uprisings are really sad. It's when people are going crazy from pain and don't know what to do >_>. And as you said, they usually bring nothing.

ah..i have no idea about the Warsaw Uprising but i can tell it's something sad to remember. c'mon, it's part of the past now. and i hope it won't happen again. the bad things i mean. ^^

Well, to make a long story short: When we got attacked and beaten from both sides at once, by Russia and Germany, in 1939, our soldiers realized it's no way to win. So the conspiration started. From the very beginning everybody was preparing for the moment either Allies will help us, or we just get a good situation so we can make a big uprising and free our country. But Allies didn't come, and in the end we realized that if we won't do anything we'll get under soviet rule. So people in Warsaw decided that since the Reds are coming anyway, we will do an uprising in Warsaw, fight Germans until Russians will reach the city and then with their help we'll free it. That way Soviets wouldn't be able to say they freed our capital, while we did nothing and we wanted to use it while negotiating our future freedom.
But something went wrong. The Soviet Red Army reached the Wisła (the river in Warsaw) and just stayed there. Uprisers didn't have enough weapons or people to fight alone. They didn't stand a chance. Stalin purposefully made his army stop. He wanted our Underground State, our opposition, our intelligence to die there. And they did. About 130-200 thousands of people. Along with our capital, that was destroyed in about 85%.
Well, bad things happen, but we have to live on

we experienced the same with the Japanese. they're too good and very well armed. our capital was wrecked and many were killed. total blood shed. but the brutal part there was the Japanese methods of killing. it's inhuman. good thing America came to help. they were so nice people back then.

that's because Japanese are very influential people so they try to erase bad things about their past that's why they are not as hated across the globe unlike the Germans but i don't want to blame them much more so let's not talk about the brutality.
i dunno if i have told you yet, but Philippine's location in Asia is a very good military spot to eye surrounding countries because we're in the middle in the southeast. 
(gawd, i think i needed to update my Philippine history comic soon. XD)

but Warsaw's situation is almost the same. and besides, our capital is the most hated place anyway so i'm not really sure if people would mind having that City eradicated. >.> Filipinos in our capital have the same status as the Poles in Vilnius. Zdziwiłabyś się ile moich smutnych artów zbiera kurz w moim folderze z rysunkami ^_^" Po prostu, większość Polaków i tak rysuje smutnego/poważnego Felka. Odwalają w sumie czarną robotę uświadamiania ogółu, ale ja chcę też trochę wesołego Felka, więc go sobie takiego rysuję. A smutne rysunki zazwyczaj zostawiam dla siebie, po co ludzi dołować.

ja, szczerze mówiąc, nie lubię okresu Powstania, głównie przez to, że już ten temat został w mediach rozwałkowany na wszystkie możliwe sposoby. chociaż przyznać muszę, że gdy byłam w Warszawie i widziałam różne tabliczki itd. związane z Powstaniem, to naprawdę się wzruszyłam.
no Powstania nie lubię, ale ten rysunek jest tak ciepły, że jego nie da się nie lubić. mina Feliksa jest cudowna, i jeszcze ta flaga... naprawdę, takie to inne od wszystkich innych rysunków o Powstaniu.

Cóż, może najpierw wypowiem się na temat samego rysunku, dopiero później na temat moich odczuć, bo niestety nie mogę zgarnąć myśli w jedną, konkretną całość... Tak więc: to jest coś innego, dużo czerwieni, przytulający flagę Feliks- już mnie kupiłaś. Eh, jeden z najstraszniejszych okresów, zginęło mnóstwo cywilów, może dlatego jestem taka sceptyczna jeśli chodzi o "czy to powstanie powinno wybuchnąć, czy nie", ale nie o tym mowa...

Cieszę się, że Ci się podoba (nawet jeśli jest stary).
Rysując go myślałam o przywódcach powstania. O tym jak się czuli kiedy już po wszystkim zrozumieli, że nie zyskali nic :< Chciałam narysować takiego samotnego Felka. Bo gdyby on naprawdę istniał to byłby dla niego najstraszniejszy etap powstania.
