SHORT SUMMARY:

Lineart for an OC of my sister's, drawn years ago and finally digitally inked. From the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012 series world. Went through several renames, because everytime we would settle on a name and personality one of those would appear in a new character in the series. Finally got tired of predicting the future and just decided to stamp this out. Current tenuous name is Venus de Milo; a sniper/weapons expert turned panther chameleon. Will color when done with contest winners.

LONG DESCRIPTION:

So I drew this maybe three years ago and the sketch has been kicking around my room for ages. I finally bunkered down and vector-traced it while I waited for submissions for the contest. I'll probably color it eventually, but not until I do the three contest winners, and one for a friend involving my old webcomic characters. I've been struggling to draw that dang thing for a month (you'd think it would be easiest to draw my own original characters, but yikes).

This isn't even my OC; its my twin sister's, . She created this spunky girl who's the daughter of cops and dreams of becoming a Green Beret for the army. She also happens to be the niece of a certain unlucky mad inventor coughSTOCKMANcough, so when she runs afoul of the Krang she dips into their tech and starts designing her own weaponry. She loves sniper rifles the best, and (when she feels like it) backs the Turtles up with firepower that she enjoys using a little too much. The Turtles are grateful for the help, sort of, because she's a bit of a troublemaker and enjoys the violence of their lifestyle. She's a good person, but a little to eager to leap into the heat of battle. Since she's a weapons specialist, she isn't as good with the hand-to-hand as the Turtles and most of their enemies, even though she's had some training from her parents. She gets around this with her mutation; she warped from her pet panther chameleon, and as long as she's wearing camo, she can blend rather well into her surroundings, making her a sniper to be feared. She acts like her mutation is the best thing since sliced bread, but in reality she's sad because she doesn't dare go home and face her parents looking like this. She lives in an abandoned warehouse that she's turned into her weapon-tinkering base.

So that's the basic outline of her, but thing is, her character was created by my sister before even Karai showed up. When Karai did appear, her personality was very similar to the original OC's. So my sis tweaked her character a bit and renamed her to Mona Lisa, thinking she'd be a fun reboot of that character from the '80's cartoon. But as those who watch the series know, Mona Lisa's already made her real debut, so now we're back to wondering what to call this character again. Might be leaning towards making her the new Venus de Milo; she's saucy enough to warrant the name Venus. She'll also be just as likely to punch your face out and laugh as she is to flirt.

She carries two hand pistol-like things hanging from her hips that look sort of like the kind of guns Star Lord uses in Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as a heavily modified sniper rifle that uses both human and Krang tech to fire precise laser bolts. She has the outfit she's got, because she only hides as well as her color-changing skin can allow, so by necessity she's not got much in the way of fabric. What she does wear is all camo-colored; designed to help her blend as well into her surroundings as possible. When she's not blending, she's very brightly colored, like panther chameleons tend to be. If necessary, she CAN point her eyes in different directions, but it really messes with her depth perception.

My sis is still bouncing around name ideas as well as her personality, since we seem to be using this character as an oracle to keep predicting what the series was going to do next. When she still had the Mona Lisa name, we were thinking of pairing her with Raph, but now . . . she's not really matched with anyone, and if anything makes the Turtles uncomfortable (never sat right with Leo in any incarnation of her), since she's rather capricious about how she helps and likes to tease. Personality-wise, she's sort of a mix between Raph and Mikey.The Turtles knows she's on the side of good, since she wants to fight for justice like her parents, but he's got a strange way of going about it sometimes.

OK enough rambling. I'm getting over my cold, so hopefully I can start work on my contest winner suggestions now that I have this lineart for April Fools done with. Again, unsure when I'll get around to coloring it. In the meantime, download it for full size and see if you can have fun coloring a panther chameleon sniper mutant. When I DO color this, I'll toss the lineart into scraps again.
