Is it just me, or does MMD slow down like hell whenever someone loads this model? i can load other models just fine with a smooth 60 fps yet this one reduces that count to 0.01 fps.

I do 3D modeling & animation, however I use Blender. Is there anyway for me to convert these files into something that Blender could read? (ie: .obj, .3ds, .dae, etc.) Even if I lose the textures?

There's a plug-in for blender that imports mmd models, I could do a conversion for you.

What plug-in is it?
(This is probably a stupid question, but what do you mean by a "conversation"?)

you ever get it converted to blender?

I haven't actually done it due to my computer now being too slow to run Blender, however I did note what plug-in it may be: Under "Addons" in the User Preferences (CTRL+ALT+U), click on the search bar and type in "NewTek MDD format". There should only be one addon that appears. Enable that and try importing the file. Hope that helps.

uuum... how can you open these files into MMD???

Myth-P In reply to nitronGMOD [2013-06-24 22:40:29 +0000 UTC]
I take it you're a beginner? You just extract the zip, then either drag the pmx file into mmd, or click "load" in the model manipulation screen and find the pmx model

nitronGMOD In reply to Myth-P [2013-06-24 23:07:14 +0000 UTC]
oh great, it looks like the version i ended up with isn't able to pick up pmx files by draging, and i dont see a model manipulation screen nor a load button

When you load yours up, does it have a miku model already loaded? And model manipulation should be at the bottom of the screen near the bottom left corner ( But not actually on it, like to the right of it )

Then that's not mmd, that's the Choreography tool, you can download mmd here [link] on the third link down on the thing that says "1.3 MikuMikuDance (DirectX9 Ver.)
This ver. is programed by DirectX9 for recent PC. (NVIDIA 3D Vision can use, if you have.)
MikuMikuDance (DirectX9 Ver.) (5MB)"

well, depending on what program you use to render, it could look better. the most noticeable error is the backface culling from the shoulder pads and the rigging errors with the knees and elbows. the materials could also use some specular mapping to differentiate the parts and indents of the armor. the bright light offsets the armor and ship's gritty appearance by making what would be dark areas really light, noticeably on the ship's vents. then there's the posing, but that also varies on a program's diversity.

Myth-P In reply to digital-shuriken [2013-06-16 22:25:32 +0000 UTC]
Well, the animation program I use is much different from yours first off, so it's going to look and be rendered differently, second, I was actually hoping no one would notice, but I actually fixed the whole knee error after this pic was made, and I actually have no idea what you said about the shoulder units, but if you're talking about the fact you can see through them on the inside, I'm hoping to fix that in the next update. The shine kinda bugged me as well, but other people seemed to like it, so I stuck with it.

digital-shuriken In reply to Myth-P [2013-06-17 00:51:29 +0000 UTC]
backface culling is when a face is visible on one side, but not the other. an easy fix is to enable double-sided shading, but a better fix would be to create a socket to better emulate armor. but speaking of programs, what renderer do you use?

Myth-P In reply to digital-shuriken [2013-06-17 03:46:39 +0000 UTC]
Oh ok, I was confused because I normally see it called double facing, and the only problem with that is that the toons, shadow, and shine appear really odd with the program I use, and it's mmd, bit of an amateur program, been meaning to switch to blender, and I also use metasequoia alot but I rarely render with it, if at all

digital-shuriken In reply to Myth-P [2013-06-22 16:40:20 +0000 UTC]
well, I guess I can't really comment on MMD having had no experience with it before. you can, however, get a free 4-year trial with 3dsmax by signing up for a student license, should blender not appeal to your pallet.

thank you a lot! this version od samus has not been available for garry's mod for quite a long time, and seeing you were able to get the models and made reskins and the gunship to top it off, I'm sure this will be very much appreciated for it to get the garry's mod and source filmmaker treatment.
