Since Rick and I spent so much time together, I was the last one to really notice. He had started growing his curly hair out last fall after he quit the cross country team. Over the winter he had started wearing that stupid blue bandana to keep his bangs out of his eyes. But the lime-green top he stole from his little sister's dresser was crossing the line. Rick was officially cross dressing.
"You can't wear that to school," I scolded. I glanced down the street to make sure the bus wasn't coming yet.
"It's a free country, " she replied, batting her eyelashes at me.
"Stop it," I hissed. "You are really freaking me out."
