Description It was a dark and stormy night...er...uhm...well not really. I was up late studying for a final and lacking the ability to concentrate I explored my surroundings in an attempt to uncover the culprit making all the loud buzzzzzzzzzzzing. To my astonishment, although a fly was making an awful amount of noise, it was the spider that was the evil-doer. "come in to my parlor" said the spider to the fly...."help me, help me" the fly buzzzzzzzzed.

OMGoodness! Amazing capture! What's the spec on this shot(ISO,Shutter,F-stop, etc)? What camera do you use anyways.

Hahaha I wish I knew. I just tend to play with my camera and I am bad at remember how I did things, but this was my 50mm macro lens on my old Minolta XG-M. I really honestly don't know much about my equipment, I am trying to take it more seriously lately. Anyway for this shot I was standing up on my rocking computer chair holding my breath and trying not to block the light with my head. It was way up in the ceiling. ha! what a sight I'm sure. Glad you like it. Thanks for the and comments.

Great shot. What did you end up doing with the two trouble-makers after taking the photo?

hehe well believe it or not I let him finish his dinner and a couple of days later I scooted Mr Longlegs out to the rosebush by my porch, and swept away all the webs.

your words that go with this image make the story up in my head seem more clear and i love that. I really love what the appature was set on..the focus was perfect on him and his meal. I really love how you captured this at this moment before death and devouring. The tones and soft colors of this shot make it feel so timeless..i adore this one

Wow... thanks...I don't even think I looked at the aperture setting..I was too focused on holding my breath so that the web wouldn't move. LOL hehe All the same thanks so much for your comment.

I get those little annoying buggers in my bathroom all the time. The grand-daddies that is. They're everywhere. I can't stand having them in there watching me bathe or whatever, so I usually spritz them with perfume until they're stunned, and then WHAP.
I know, morbid, but true. One day the arachnid society will gang up on me and stun me with tear gas then clobber me with the world's largest shoe. Yea... something to look forward to...

But anyways, great job in capturing the essence of The Arachnid!

Awww at least that little eight legged friend smells nice in death. LOL. It is a little cruel, but effective nevertheless. Thanks for the complement too.

i remember watching flies getting stuck in webs back on my grandfathers farm. it amazed me at how fast the spider would move just to get a meal. sometimes i could see dozens of things lieing in the web and the spider just went nutz trying to tie everything up into its web of course i probably didnt help out much since i was the one throughing all the flies and bugs into his or her web

I loved that story. A creepy picture which I llike/love! I'm one of the rare few who love spiders. Now crickets, well...that's a different story. Great shot!

You are a silly girl. I like you

vaude In reply to myuh [2004-05-26 04:02:41 +0000 UTC]

Yes, and I'll be happy if all the crickets in the world were dead! So you see, in a way its part disney and part exterminator man. And I like Disney! But whenever I go to Disneyland and a person dressed as Jimminy comes my waying motioning for a hug not even park regulation will keep me from putting my foot in an innapropriate place!

myuh In reply to vaude [2004-05-26 04:06:39 +0000 UTC]

well I would definitely agree with you on the park thing. I was scared of the characters trying to hug me when I was little...and I am still scared of them.
Take care you!

lol that's so cool i've never seen a spider actually do that or infact i've never seen any bugs caught in the webs and that story isn't dorky cuz its true lol i mean they can't actually talk (or maybe they can! ^^) but if they could that'd probably be what they would say - very cool ^^

myuh In reply to artistamnesia243 [2004-05-26 01:22:30 +0000 UTC]

Well I just called it that because of the old story/poem about the spider and the fly. And that was kind of a quote...anyway...I don't know about words, but that fly was definitely communicating. haha
poor little pooh eater

myuh In reply to artistamnesia243 [2004-05-26 01:04:25 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! My story is kinda dorky, but its true...that fly was sooo loud, and it was so hard to focus, because the spider was diligently wrapping up the fly, and the fly was vibrating and shaking. Plus I had to hold my breath to get really close and not cause any more commotion. Thanks for the comment though.
