Awwww!:'-(
I tend to think of Barney as having lost the person he loved too.It adds some angst to an otherwise mostly comic character.
But yeah,it's fun to explore that aspect of Barney, relationships and who Lauren might have been.
Have you seen Pinkle's Gmod comic on here,Flowers For Lauren?I luuurve it!

Well, each to their own. I am already older than Gordon. And the idea of Barney being of forty something is quite what I need. Older fans, older heroes, something like that. Of course, if you look at it from Gordon’s point of view, unchanged Barney would be better. But well, even if he remains unchanged in physical sense, he has still aged mentally, magic or no magic, and that is what counts in relationship. There is a gap between them however you look at it. Those years of hard life and experiences you’d wish you’d never have. And he still remains a happy-go-lucky fella whom everyone likes to know. What an amazing personality I guess I’m being off the point here, sorry And being back to Gordon, I guess Gordon would shun everybody now, especially people he knew before the Black Mesa incident. That’s because of G-man being in control of him and his life and his future. He is not his own master any more. It would be natural, imo, if he tried to avoid too close a contact with Alyx or Barney. He is just like an unwilling traveler in time who can only move forward and never back. Presently he is reunited with his old friends and allies but what next? What would G-man want from him tomorrow? Of course, I wouldn’t know, personality-wise I have nothing in common with Gordon. But isn’t it just natural to avoid relationship if you know there is no future to it? That’s what kindness is, isn’t it? Not to give people hope when there is none. Or maybe not. I don’t know what Gordon thinks on the subject, he never says.
P.S. Sorry for my English. If I’m not making sense anywhere in this looong reply that’s partly because of my bad English. Which is bad, yeah

Yeah, that's the problem I had with that fic I mentioned where Barney gets magically un-aged;he still has all the experience in his mind, and you just can't undo that. He's lived through 20 years of Combine occupation and the Resistance, and has seen and done things that Gordon hasn't,so that wouldn't go away if he were to be physically rejuvenated in some way.Ah,the angst!I feel like making some poetic statement here on the passsage of time, but can't manage it,lol.
Actually, with Gordon not getting too close to anyone because of the G-Man,I just published a fanfic on Fanfiction.net(it's my first fanfic ever!I'm so proud of myself, lol),where Gordon's basically holding back his feelings for Alyx for just that reason.I hate to plug myself, but if you want to look at it,find my screenname on Fanfiction.net,it's the same as here and the only story on my page.
Yeah, about fans reacting differently to Barney's age,I guess the fan's own age does matter. It does seem to be the younger fans who tend to feel sad about Barney being older than Gordon.I guess I took for granted how a fan's own life can shape their interpretation of the characters.
And honsetly,I didn't notice anything about your English until you mentioned it,lol. You had me completely fooled, you speak it very well!
