Description Took a saying from the book "Boyd:  The Fighter Pilot Who Changed the Art of War" by Robert Coram;  he refered to the Nellis FWS pilots as the "High Priests", just sounded cool.  Thought it was neat to show different levels of wear on the planes too.

It took me a couple re-looks to realize this was digital art.  It looks like the paintings they always hang up in hallways on Air Force bases.

Very pretty shot.  I like the subtle differences and the colourations.  Agree that maybe a little more reflection is needed, but still a top shot mate.

Thanks, I altered and enhanced the reflections.  I think it's better.

Greatly looking render, wonderful job!! You got the lighting just right, like the metals too and the variation between the aircraft. Quite photorealistic, maybe some smoke like roen pointed out but not that important to me.

Heh, if you look at the serial numbers, you'll note the newest plane happens to be the cleanest looking one.

Yes, good eye.  I created it that way in hopes of added realism.

Thank you very much.  That damned metal is hard to get just right, constant adjustments.

I know what you mean. The main problem I got with metals in 3D is that most of the times, when too shiny, they look more like a gloss coated grey than polished metal. Getting the materials look right in 3D isn't the easiest part of this hobby but I enjoy it and learn something new every time I finish a new artwork. I'm pretty sure that's the case for you too.

Nail on the head.  I'm discovering the reflective map for the metal plays a huge part in the the effectiveness of creating that metalic look.

Not sure how your 3D application handles materials but I think sometimes the Specular colour is as important as the reflective map.

I will have to see if I can play with the color in Specular.  I do alter and mess with it, but I've never looked into color alterations.  Thanks for the tip.

i like it but personally i think it needs more light and reflections and dont forget ,a lot of black smoke

Tweaked and added more highlight reflections...and as usual you were right.  I am much happier with the change, the subtle sense of depth was greatly enhanced.  I also added the smoke.  In the images I have, there wasn't a lot of smoke, but caught a youtube video where the smoke was more prevalent.  I tried to capture the smoke effect I saw in the video.  I'll let you guys be the judge.

Very nice mate. You've got the metal looking very good. I like the way 63105 is different to the others.

Thanks, I'm getting there with the metal effect, definitely a learning curve.
