This is the first complete piece I did in markers. I was really excited to start using them and I think it turned out okay. There are parts that are a little sloppy where I messed up but overall I'm pretty happy with it.**minor spoilers below**
As far as the subject matter, I wanted to do a dramatic Kikyou picture. I rarely see dramatic kikyou pics which I think is odd because I find her to be a very dramatic character. What inspired this particular scene was the episode where Inuyasha has to carry her out of the barrier so her soul catchers can reach her. He 'more or less' asks if she would travel with them. She, of course, declines after glancing at an obviously upset Kagome. I can't help but think how difficult that must have been for her. This picture is how I imagined her walking off on her own, probably wishing she could have stayed with Inuyasha.

the background is what initially caught my eye. the woodland and mountainous turrain with rain clouds overhead... the perfect dramatic picture for a beautiful rendering of a dramatic priesttess. it all falls together so well

as always is simply beautiful and captures the emotion extremely well. Kikyou has like a quiet beauty about her that you don't know if you should be on her side or not.

Wow. She's beautiful. I think the fact you used traditional media on this is definitely what's got my attention the most, but i just love the background on it, too.

I think the background is my favorite part... but that's probably because I spent hours skimming through japanese landscape photography before I finally figured out how to draw it. I tend to get lazy on backgrounds but I'm glad I stuck it through on this picture because I think it turned out nicely after all that work.

Great job on this. Of course, I'm a die-hard Inuyasha/Kagome fan, but that doesn't mean I don't feel for Kikyou. That scene had to be hard on all three characters, actually.

I probally think that cause the olny Takahashi characters I can draw are Miroku and Lum but nonetheless it's great.

you coloured that image with markers? im impressed at first I thought that you used pastels or crayons. Very well done on this beautiful image. I assume that you like Kikyo huh

Crap. I actually forgot to put up there that I used some colored pencil too. But most of it is prismacolor markers.
Thank you though, and yes... I do like Kikyou. I like Kagome too though, so i'm not one of those 'kikyouisthebestihopekagomediesabloodyde ath' people. I think she is a beautiful character (not so much in her appearence but just her story and the purpose she serves in the series).
