Description I made this gown to wear to a Civil War Ball that I went to in January. The ball was hosted by You Can Live History and was held in a chuch's gymnasium. The gown came out really well considering that I rushed it to finished it in time. What I don't like about it is that it wrinkles in front and the hoopskirt shows through the fabric. Aargh.

That's really cool! I'm not really a part of a reenacting unit. A group of homeschoolers here host a Civil War ball every year that I go to.

what unit are you in? mine kinda differs (well more like my brother's) we where in the 4th Kentucky and then the 50th Tenn. but now we aren't really in a unit cuz we've been away for a while....we're starting to do it more (when we have time) be we kinda just 'show up'

Where/how did you learn to create dresses like that. I've tried and failed miserably. Are there any secrets to it because your amazing at it.

For the hoop to stop showing, try a petticoat It's hard to believe you rushed to make that; it's beautful!

I have the same problem with my elizbethan, Ive been planing to make a tulle one to go inbetween (like one of those 40's hundred yarders) only full length, to poof it away.

Just throw a ruffled petticote under there and your problem is solved.

This is very nice. I like the color.
