Description And here's the next illustration from the series I've made solely for the character sheet of our Hero of Time in the (German) Zelda RPG "Zelda Chronicles ".

As you can guess, the image appears next to the chapters about Link's family. Though in OoT and in the (unofficial) comic in the special edition #9 of the German magazine Club Nintendo in 1998 (this one here - only the German version, sorry) we come to know something about the family he descended from, we don't learn about him whether he has started a family of his own later on or not, that's why I followed my headcanon: The Hero of Time has married the Princess of Destiny and they've got two daughters together after years have passed by.

So you see Link as a Knight of Hylia and the commander of Hyrule (I love the design of Hylia's Chosen Hero in the preview of the SS manga so much <3), Zelda Isilia IV. (our name for OoT!Zelda), their childern Zelda Aurelia (the older one) and Serenia Nivienne (the younger one) as well as King Harkinian II. (yes ... we wanted a name from the Zelda universe which isn't that present in minds), the King of Hyrule from OoT, whom you never meet there, and the last of the Sheikah, OoT!Impa, can be vaguely discerned in the background. The painting from the sunken Hyrule Castle in TWW (here ), which shows an unknown Zelda and her confidants, has inspired me eminently, too.

I don't know how many times I've drawn Link in similiar postures, so my progress has dragged on temporarily and it's been much more fun to work on the other characters. Anyway, it was not a smart decision to put Zelda on the chair, because I nearly failed to picture it; and after I've attempted umpteen times in vain to create a pattern for the floor of my own I've resigned and looked at the official artwork again.

(Main reference was the prologue of TWW, the background texture is from croix22 (the account is deactivated ...). The worn out looking lines are the result of filters and layers in Photoshop. The picture is from March 2014 and took me about some hours in a period of too many nights.)

The OoT king's name is Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule, as he appears in Wind Waker as well.

Do you have a source? For all I know neither TWW nor Hyrule History mention Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule as the king from OoT. Instead it's said that many years have passed since the victory of the Hero of Time by the time Ganondorf returns and the Goddesses unleash the Great Flood, so Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule seems to be rather a successor of the king from OoT.

But I'm open to other approaches as long as there are some clues.

I really like the "Link Between Worlds" look to it! ^^

Nice drawing, it captures the style really well.

I'm a bit confused on where this places in the Zelda timeline, though...

Thank you for your feedback!

It's part of the Child Link Timeline and fits in after OoT and MM, but long before TP, in which Link has become the Hero's Shade. As the games don't show us what happened to him in the meantime, I've come up with an own story. ^^

(Though I don't like the whole "Split of the Timeline" thing and the idea of alternate realities and so on. Zelda is a legend and legends changes everytime they're told or heard by someone; in my opinion there is no split in the timeline, the three different timelines are the mere result of changing oral and written traditions. There are many examples in medieval European literature, where the same story is passed on in many varying versions. Errrr, sorry, but that's only my weird mind. xD)

I agree with you (I don't even think a timeline was necessary), but I just wanted to know if this was somewhat linked to TWW and related games other than for the style.

Oh, sorry, that I've missed the point while babbling. xD

Yes, it's merely the style which refers to TWW. (Not only, as there are also some connections to TWW in my headcanon.) ^^

Which connection?  ^^

In TWW it is said that the Hero of Time did not return as the people believed he would - the moment my picture shows takes place shortly before Link has to leave the land (for the second time; he came back from Termina after MM) and hide his identity, so no one will remember his later deeds and there won't be a Hero of Time in the legends anymore.
