Another ~3 day picture.The last few things I've posted have been commissions, so I figured I ought to try this again. "This" being what's turning into a habit of drawing backlit Celestia . It's sort of my benchmark image. Measure how hot the processor gets while drawing, see how long it takes, and determine if I've improved any.
Speaking of processors, I'm a layer fiend. around layer 52, SAI started complaining it was out of memory and started randomly discarding whole layers during merge operations. What followed were some tense moments while I carefully pruned and merged things down to a more manageable size.
They say you have to leave your comfort zone to improve. I feel like doing that just makes me kinda angry at my work though.
Gosh, creation is tiring, so if you'll excuse me, I hear it's Saturday, and that there are things to consume.

I have a few thousand pictures on my drive and I've narrowed it down to just a few. I like your style. I of course would give you a credit page in the book. Let me know if you can alter it a tiny bit to make it original. I would like to have an all original picture that's not released on the internet. Awww. This reminds me of the first Spyro game on PS1, in the peacekeepers level.
Why doesn't it remind me of the time I was in AIT in Arizona, or Afghanistan, or similar places in World of Warcraft? Meh, I guess I'm more sentimental about things from my childhood, and Celestia was more likely to pull it out.

Princess Celestia's flank works just like a prism when held up to the light, CONFIRMED! Lol, in all seriousness this looks beautiful like, I have a conniption trying to draw rocks and dirt and here you've done a fine job doing a rendition of an entire canyon, haha. Plus, the lighting and shading looks just as stunning as everything else so, I have zero critiques to offer you here. Kudos, bro~

Wow, that is really really awesome!! I'm really amazed at the shading and just the overall lighting of this pic! The background has a charming simplicity to it, it looks very much alive and flows amazingly well with this pic! Overall, you did a wonderful job on this picture, keep up the awesome work!

The combination of colours is really unique. I really like what you did with the clouds' colour scheme and their overall lighting. Also, to top it off, the sky's color contrasts beautifully with it. The whole scenery looks fantastic, the brushwork in the rocks is very smooth and well taken care of. Their detail is very well worthy of observation, great job!
Celestia looks fantastic here, I can't decide whether the mane and tail or the wings look better XD. I like the colours you used for her, it is not only a shade of very light pink but some parts use a slight purple and a very mild white. That combination of colours works really good, it is very noticeable with this picture. The pose is very dynamic, every part of her body was drawn very well and look very proportionate. I also think that the detail of not adding the typical white dot(s) to the eyes is really cool, since they aren't really reflecting any light at all. It might be your style or the way you do eyes, but I still think that about it, nonetheless.

The clouds were actually the first thing I did for this, and they were pretty fun, since I'd never really made anything quite like them before.
The color on Celestia's body and hair is something I fiddled with quite a bit, it's meant to be a result of reddish light from below (reflected from the canyon) and more bluish light from above. Multiplied with her ever so slightly pinkish coat it ends up being substantially pinker than I'd expect, but does give a pretty bold look.
You nailed it with the specular dots (or lack thereof) on her eyes, in fact, if you look closely, you can see the reflection of the sky and clouds in front of her in her eyes.

Reflected color and ambience light are awesome details that really enhance pictures, it's really cool that you added those to your drawing.

Celestia great in this. I like to see her flying since we didn't see her doing it often. She seems to search for something or somepony. What was your inspiration for this piece?

Ah, that's tricky, I don't know that I could specify any particular inspiration for this, I just sorta wanted to do another flying Celestia and wondered where the most epic place to do it would be. Canyons came to mind. I guess they're good for flying scenes because they emphasize the speed of motion that isn't often visible in flight because you're so far from everything, not that that really comes through in a still like this, but what am I gonna do?
