This is a commission for *project-epic of his character. It was fun to do but those trees were surprisingly challenging! I learned a lot when painting this though, about trees mostly. I have a lot more to learn.. :IIf you would like, you can see the work-in-progress shots on

Well hey, challenges make us grow as artists, and I think you did a great job on the trees! I love the gradients you've used on them, especially the one that fades into that light teal - it really draws the eye!
I love the shading you've done on him, too. I'm scared to try shading a character from trees or leaves, it seems really hard!
Anyway, this is really beautiful, I love his expression, and the fit of his clothing. ANd that neat lion belt!!

For some reason, when I saw the title/the thumbnail of this, I thought of Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones.
