Some people just aren't made to sociolize, but it is a skill, and one that can be mastered. Like learning how to paint or how to shoot a bow; it takes time and there are some who may not start with as little or as much as others. It's never to late to learn a new skill.
I used to get distressed whenever anyone would approach me and try to talk with me. I had to force a response, usually no more than 2 or 3 words. Overtime I learned quite a bit about talking normally with people. It's not really a bad thing to like being by yourself and not talking much, but it couldn't hurt to learn a new skill that could help you later on in life.

This was the private after party for an international comics festival, so loads of foreign comic artists living in Japan... As close to 'my people' as it gets. Bars are out of the question
